Salisbury is 3-0 and has a very good freshman. If it’s the same one I heard about he will do some great things. I heard he was a dunker. They take on Statesville on 5/5.

What’s wrong with West Caldwell where do we start. Well it all starts with the firing of a football coach that shouldn’t have been fired, we’ve lost 7 basketball players since his firing the football program can’t win games so that stops kids from coming to west. And let’s be honest the talent pool in gamewell is dry. theres a very high chance that not one team at west will have a winning record next year.

Mount Airy's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Atkins, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
Looking ahead, Mount Airy will take on Fort Chiswell in a tournament on Monday. The Granite Bears' defense better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 90 points per game this season. As for Atkins, they will be taking part in a tournament against West Stokes at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Who was the coach they fired. And maybe if they would try to find a proven head coach they may start winning some games. Seems things are bad at West on every level. Terrible administration at West Caldwell.

West Stokes won the Pepsi bracket of the Frank Spencer tournament defeating North Surry 61-32 in championship game. Luke Anderson won mvp
Monty Simmions was the football coach that they fired. They now have a guy who’s record is 9-98 like why make that hire
Yes the basketball coach has over 400 wins and has won a state championship but he can’t win basketball games if the kids keep transferring out to play football elsewhere
CCAWell Monte Simmons should have been gone because he was terrible but why they hired the one they have now was a real stupid hire. The problem is the administration at West they have failed the kids and the community.
Monty might not have been the best head coach but he always got kids to west and kids never left. We fired him to win 2 games in 2 years in which he would have won those 2 games plus a couple more. We’ve lost so many kids to transfer since he’s left so I say it was an awful decision to fire him. But once again 11 coaches since 2004 with only 2 winning seasons so I blame the community and the school board
Monty was not a good coach and the one now should not have been hired. He had a record of like 9-79 or something like that. Don’t seem like the community gives a crap and the school board caters to Hibriten. And the AD and principle at West are a part of what has caused the down fall of the football program at West. Them and the ones before them. What’s the answer wish I knew but it’s a sad situation and you can’t blame the kids for leaving they want to win.
The kids that’s leaving what are they winning? I agree we need a change at the top but for whatever reason the western part of the county gets stuck with worst principals maybe one day that will change
You ask what they are winning. Going to Hibriten and playing for a team that could have very well played for a state championship this year. The kids have been going to Hibriten for years now. And as for getting the worst principals I can believe that. It’s very sad what has went on with the West Caldwell football program. And the ones that has let this get to this point should be ashamed of what they have done because they have failed the kids. Sorry I know this page is about basketball so I apologize for this.

I thought I would bring this post back up. The player that this post was referring to was the freshman that hit the half court shot to win the last game he played in to advance to the State Championship game. I believe Royce will do great things at Salisbury. I don’t see them beating Reidsville but the future looks bright for this freshman player. I‘m looking forward to see how he plays in the next several years at Salisbury.

Ok so I did some research on this. Found it in the Salisbury Post sometime back. Royce Perkins dad is the head coach at Salisbury high basketball. According to the Salisbury post Royce was an amazing player in the 8th grade middle school. It was noted that he had some dazzling dunks. One of the best players they seen in a long time. He also practice with the Salisbury team for a couple years. Will he be the next basketball star to rise. I believe he will and looking forward in the future as he plays for Salisbury.
