Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby releases statement after meeting with Texas, Oklahoma

The Big 12 is not out of the fight just yet, according to the latest comments from commissioner Bob Bowlsby. With Texas and Oklahoma expected to leave the Big 12 and join the SEC, Bowlsby met virtually with the two school presidents and other conference representatives. He described the meeting as "cordial."

On Saturday, it was reported the conference discussed a last minute plan to keep the two schools. Now, it looks like Bowlsby presented that plan to Oklahoma and Texas.

The conference and Bowlsby released a Sunday statement.

“The Big 12 Conference Executive Committee, consisting of Big 12 Board of Directors chairman and Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec and Baylor University President Linda Livingstone; and Commissioner Bob Bowlsby met by video conference Sunday afternoon with University of Oklahoma President Joe Harroz and University of Texas President Jay Hartzell,” the statement read. “‘The meeting was cordial, and the Executive Committee expressed a willingness to discuss proposals that would strengthen the Conference and be mutually beneficial to OU and UT, as well as the other member institutions of the Conference,’ Bowlsby stated. ‘I expect that we will continue our conversations in the days ahead and we look forward to discussing thoughts, ideas and concepts that may be of shared interest and impact.’”

Agree--enough of the b.s. Hope WVU has enough of a relationship with ACC schools and ESPN to get it done ( and that the SEC doesn't pull Clemson and FSU with them).

Have to wait until the current deals are done probably or waaay too much to pay to get out early.

They are planning on creating a third conference but one on the level of the ACC
That is if some PAC 12 schools jump to the B1G

You like Arizona.’ Washington is a beautiful state😂 Maybe not Pullman but nevertheless Washington could possibly be there

PAC12 teams are not leaving for the B12. After OUT leave the total payout to the B12 will be greatly reduced. The per team payout will be greatly reduced. ESPiN will see to that.

Now woah Nellie! That article was dated July 25th while UT and OK were still being a little coy trying to create a CYA situation after being busted by the Houston Newspaper. Words since then have been a lot less friendly and they now have gone quiet. Litigation is next and it is going to be ugly.

I hope it's so Ugly it stinks and ESPN pays a heavy price for it. They controlled College sports long enough. Time for them to take a hit and possibly die. Capital Cities/ABC, Inc., which owns 80% of ESPN, was bought out by Disney for $19 Billion. Hearst Corporation owns the remaining 20% stake.
