I don't know how many years into NIL and P2 football as pro football it will take for people to stop imagining piddly things like winning a bowl game in Detroit will make a single iota of recruiting difference.
It might if the opponent is from the SEC as opposed to the Mountain West. You never know. If a 3 or 4 star kid has NU on his radar, along with some other programs that are not top tier powers, a win against a power 5 conference just might get him interested. I doubt the Cats will land in Detroit if they beat IllinoHopefully. A team like Toledo would, but the Cat's would land something like the Holiday Bowl hopefully.

You can go to the Met Opera website right now to see tickets available. Last year I helped people visiting get Met tickets I think it was New Years ever for face (perhaps it was one day before New Years eve, on the 30th, I don't exactly recall). Broadway, again, there will be tickets. When you arrive buy New York (NOT the Newyorker - but New York) magazine, has everything listed, reviews, restaurants, events etc. NY is a wonderful place to visit as long as you use common sense, don't wander around or take the subway very drunk at 3am etc. (same applies for Chicago methinks).

My wife and I visited NYC two times a year-the weekend after Thanksgiving and for the Big East Tourney. We were uncomfortable until the 1990's when the panhandlers and homeless seemed to disappear and a greater police presence was evident but by the early 2000's , things reverted to the past. Even though, we enjoyed Broadway, my wife refused to return to NYC.

I would recommend common sense, use taxis , avoid the subways in the evening and choose a hotel(Marriott) near Broadway if shows are your primary interest

Look, you and others come here “armed” with your expertise of reading tea leaves and articles. None of you have ever been around this program or any other D1 program. In fact, you don’t even understand what we have as a war chest or what the current rules are. You just casually dismiss as they are unenforceable and use ******** like “ common knowledge” to justify your opinions that you state as factual. You assume we can’t complete with our weight class in P4 because it’s your convenient excuse to justify our recruiting woes and/or winning games problem. Not a single person on here can show what Illinois spends on football NIL versus NU.

Sorry, you have zero credibility to me when in the first two weeks of joining this board you throw out ******** rumors of Fors visiting Illinois and Fleck interested in NU . Total reckless spitballing. I should have called you out initially but I thought this guy is new and just maybe he has a family or friend connection with Fors or Fleck, give him a break. Now I know you just make things up. So excuse me for not thinking you are an authority on everything related to college sports.
I’ve been a member of this board and you and I have been chit chatting around here for like six years, buckaroo

Please, literally just follow the national news around the sport a LITTLE BIT. You don’t need to be an insider when the national reporting around Lane Kiffin is which program can offer him a $20+M external NIL pool, which preseason hoops tournament is giving players $1M per team, etc. Just read and follow the news like a teeny tiny bit.

We can go around here forever, but it’s Thanksgiving and of course I remember you from your days on the paid board until the infamous Cappy blow up, so I am not sure why you have a need to challenge everything I post here like I too and some novice.

My positions keeps getting twisted. I never said NIL/Money is not a factor in success. NU has not and will not compete for elite athletes that the top programs want. We are not shopping at the same store as the big boys in the SEC or B1G. We could have more money to offer and most kids aren’t choosing NU over LSU ( assuming they can even be admitted). When was the last time we battled it out with Kiffin for a recruit?

We certainly should be competing with half the teams in the B1G for recruits and essentially everyone outside of the SEC and the top half B1G but a few other historically strong programs. Since I know you take comments extremely literal, there are a few other programs that have paid way over market to improve that are exceptions to this comment. It happens, but you have to find a way to succeed with what resources you have and I got news for you, NU is not building a NIL war chest to match these schools no matter how much you harp on it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone else on Wildcat Report.

I don’t find anything you said there unreasonable or incorrect, other than the implication that NU needs to build an elite war chest. It doesn’t, we won’t compete with LSU, OSU, etc. But we do need a Big Twn middle class war chest so we can consistently outcompete most non P2 schools and have average-ish Big Ten talent instead of constantly inferior talent. I’m not asking for us to suddenly have a $50 million Texas Tech payroll.

That’s all I have been trying to convey.

I think we’re all on the same page here.

What about Duke? Vanderbilt? Tulane? Ok to expect to compete with them for recruits and transfers withNIL $?

A huge percentage of the solution is coaching and QBs. Maybe(?) we have the right coach. Love the guy, needs to improve as a game day coach. And recruiting

QBs, all three of those programs have done better than us at QB, Duke has for YEARS now. It doesn't take a genius to know Mensah is better than Stone.

Mensah...genius. I've wanted to use that all year.
