I am probably in the minority here, but I would gladly take the Birmingham Bowl today.

Absolutely. I'd take any bowl to be honest. But the Birmingham Bowl in the new stadium would be pretty cool.

Other than TX the opponents suck but with us what’s new?
The best bowl teams as far as helmet games go have been Nebraska, Texas, Clemson, A&M, GTech and Michigan and 4 of those were over 20 years ago. You may could include Iowa as a decent name/helmet game.

Even the A&M, Michigan and Iowa games were in mediocre bowls. Sure they're name teams, but they weren't that good that year. We're in a mediocre bowl at best this year, so I don't care who we play.

I have ESPN+, but I can’t find updated Bowl Projections for this week.

I don't see it either, I think we're looking at 5-7. We've played 2 decent games this year and have stunk up the place in the others. If UPig and Aubie were at home I may would change it but I don't see us beating them on the road and don't see us outscoring the Black Bears @ home

I think we'll get to 6 somehow if Rogers isn't too limited by the injury. Arkansas is on the road, but I think we match up reasonably well against them. Kentucky is apparently a lot tougher than I thought, but I think we match up reasonably well with them too and they're at home. Hard to see a win at Auburn or against Mississippi at home unless Corrall is injured though. If Rogers can't be effective, we may have trouble getting to 5 wins.

It's been a crazy season though, so I fully expect to beat Mississippi or Auburn but lose to Vanderbilt.

I agree it's been crazy, but not THAT crazy. The losing to Vandy part I mean. I think a win over either OM or Auburn is at least possible.

I agree, it would be an easy drive for our fans and we would probably set the stadium record for attendance.

I believe that we have a legit shot with 3 wins today:

1. Vandy on the road - 90% chance of a win.
2. KY at home - 50% chance of a win (because it is at home).
3. Aubie on the road - 20% chance of a win, but we pulled it off at A&M.
4. Arkie on the road - 20% chance of a win, but we pulled it off at A&M.
5. TN State - 95% chance of a win.
6. Ole Miss at Home - 33% chance of a win, especially if their QB is injured... He seems to run a lot and will take a lot of hits between now and Thanksgiving.

The factors: how loud will our home crowd be for Ole Miss and KY?
how badly is Will Rogers throwing shoulder?
Is Arky, Aubie, KY, and Ole Miss dumb enough to rush 3 men all game (as A&M did)?

I tend to think we split the Kentucky and Arkansas games for whatever reason. I have us at 6-5 going into the Egg Bowl and we’ll see beyond that.

I would love to beat Auburn because I’m actually making my first trip to Jordan Hare this year, but I just envision Nix running circles around our defense that has a tendency to look slow at times.

I honestly don't remember us playing Nebraska. When was that?

Sure it's not impossible we win 1 or 2 of these 4 games, but we will be TD or more underdogs in 3, maaaaayble merely 4-5 point dogs against Ark.

Unless we lose to Vandy on Saturday, I would be floored if Kentucky is a touchdown favorite in Starkville. I think it opens at UK -3 or -4 and may end up being a pick em by kickoff.

That was the Nebraska team that went 11-0 the next season and people were talking about them being the best team in history, until Miami upset them in the Orange Bowl for their first national title.

The Athletic does not have us in a bowl game.

Coastal Carolina is picked to go to the Birmingham Bowl against SMU because there aren’t enough SEC teams to fill spots.

Nebraska lost to Clemson in the Orange Bowl after the ‘81 season— that was the Tigers’ first national championship.

The loss to Miami was in the ‘84 Orange Bowl.
