What are the expectations for NU bowl game location?

I just bought Citrus Bowl tix on stubhub because who knows how many the school will make available.

Hey a winnable game in a state that allows fans-- that's an A-OK consolation prize.

This team should be in the Citrus Bowl.

Anything less is a highway robbery.

We should stay ahead of Iowa in the CFP rankings, as the committee seems to pay attention to head to head results and we certainly didn’t embarrass ourselves today. Whether the bowls take that ranking into consideration is another question.

Once upon a time, the Big Ten and SEC offices nudged Citrus to take the Division champ losers. I remember this was an issue with Nebraska a few years ago...I wanna say it was the year when we went to Gator(?)

Honestly, I don't want to play Florida in Orlando. That sounds like a punishment.

Tampa vs. Mizzou? Or maybe a rematch vs. Auburn? Meh, ok. This team ain't beating Florida.

I would take the best bowl possible. Bring on Florida. We want as much national attention as possible. It will pay off in better recruiting and change public perception. I would vomit if Io-a jumps us. Winning a lower-tiered bowl that no one watches does not serve our best interest.

This. Florida is not better than OSU. We’d be just fine.

Beating a top 10 Florida team in Florida might help future recruiting efforts.

Just a thought. Don’t care who we play as long as the guys stay healthy. This has been a really fast season - 8 conference games in 9 weeks after a shortened offseason.

Outback and Citrus Bowls VS SEC teams are solid. SEC fans watch their teams. Players love the trip. Prefer that we don't play Florida but would look forward to that any way. Fiesta would have been great but it will still be Jan 1 or 2 game. D

Florida is as good as OSU in terms of talent. I want no part of that matchup.

If Florida's in Citrus, I'd prefer Outback against somebody like Auburn.

Only thing that matters in bowl season is getting a winnable matchup in a good slot outside of going to the NY6.

Going up against a Florida team that can go toe-to-toe with Alabama is not interesting to me.

Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia are probably all going to be in NY6 bowls, and we're not. So if we draw an SEC bowl opponent it'll likely be Auburn or Missouri.

I wouldn’t count on a bowl game being played this year. These kids are done. It has been an arduous season and at this point kids probably just want to relax and be done with this crazy football season.

Wouldn’t be shocked if half of these bowls are cancelled.

The bowls on Jan 1 and Jan 2 will be played and NU will be in one. NU just needs to get a reasonable match up. A lot of TV money involved. There may well be other bowll cancellations and opt outs. NU did what it needed to do.

Let's see, practice and hang out with your buddies and travel to a bowl game, or be stuck at home with your parents. Tough call.

whatever bowl, I will watch it and root vociferously. None of the really hold any novelty anymore. Either bowl fatigue or my general contempt for all things Florida (except FloridaAlum). The Citrus and Outback are interchangeable to me. We get to play some highly talented SEC team that had a subpar year. I'd like to win one of those. Tired of losing to some mediocre SEC team (see Auburn, Tennessee, aTm) and hearing the whole "SEC" thing.

The B1G should consider that the CCG loser gets 2nd pick regardless. Otherwise, you have some team(s) like IU and Ioa that leap the West winner, in part because we lost to dOSU

A little ouchy after yesterday, I'll get excited about the bowl in a day or two.

I want there to be a bowl because I love my team and want to see them one more time (preferably in a win), but I wouldn't begrudge them if they opted out of playing after everything that's happened this year. And of course, even if NU decides they want to play, there are still some reasons for why their bowl game would not be played anyway. We need to be prepared as fans for yesterday to be the last 2020 NU game.

Fiesta Bowl takes Iowa State vs Oregon. IU fans think they're out of the NY6.

Thrilled to be wrong about the Citrus. I never thought I'd see the day. With limited fans, maybe they thought this would be the best year to check Northwestern off the list.
Yeah I think Indiana getting passed by the CFP and then Citrus was unexpected to say the least.

Still, works out really great for us. Citrus is definitely the most prestigious bowl underneath the NY6, so great to be back there.

I don't know about crossing off the list, but yeah given Covid fan restrictions, they probably just focused on quality of game/name/brand instead of stuff like traveling fans/attendance.

Points to how good we've been on a regular basis the past half-decade and are much more of a known quantity now.

Probably doesn't hurt that the next 4 weeks, our program and Fitz will be tied to every NFL HC opening lol..., so you know that's all ESPN will be talking about (until Fitz announces he's not going anywhere).
