Just saw where Nick Bosa just quit school and will focus on draft. Hes a tremendous talent but how does quitting (to focus on rehab of a non season ending injury/draft) help/hurt his draft status. He's projected #1 overall. Would quitting his college team make you consider another player if you were a GM?

Calling him a quitter is pretty unfair. From what I've read, he wasn't going to be playing again this season, so it makes a lot more sense financially to make sure he's good to go for the Combine and Draft with the best trainers money can buy

Isn't the whole purpose of college to prepare you for a career?

Apparently he's comfortable with the preparation that the college experience has provided him and is now ready to focus exclusively on his professional career. I don't fault him one bit and I doubt any NFL execs do either.

He was out for the year anyway. Basically the quitting part is because he's dropping outta school.

I think he had a small chance to come back for the final 2-3 games, and a very good chance to be back for the CFP. Surgeon said he would assess the progress in the first week of November, and if all was good then he could have been cleared to return.

That being said, I don’t blame him for his decision, his pro earnings potential comes first. But, him being the #1 overall pick is certainly weighing heavily here. If he was only a 2nd or 3rd round pick, he’d 100% definitely be back this season, or by the postseason at the absolute latest. If that wasn’t the case, he wouldn’t have had to make such a “difficult decision” that his dad said weighed heavily on his family. This is a business move plain and simple.

Or to better oneself by getting an education. Just a thought.

Dude has probably been on his back for the last month. He had a major surgery its not like he twisted an ankle so he likely got behind in school. He can go back to get a degree at any time. There is a time horizon he is facing and it is short. When you have to take a poop do you say screw it i'm just gonna sit right here in my chair crap all over myself and keep working because finishing a spread sheet is way more important than hygiene. No you quit what you are doing and go poop. You might can delay it but inevitably more important business calls. Same principal. More important Business is calling.

Yep. Now he can get a loan based on his draft stock or have his agent front the money. If he doesn’t drop out, that would be a NCAA violation, not that it would amount to more than a slap on the wrist based on the post-UNM unpublished revised matrix.
