Boosters Protecting Frost

The boosters realize that if Frost gets fired especially after 1 game, nobody but nobody of substance would ever want to take the job.

Why? We just stuck by a coach after 4 straight losing seasons, with the last being a 3-9 season. The narrative that Nebraska will fire any coach at the drop of a hat is pretty dam stupid.

Oh we will. Just not a local “hero”.
Believe me, there is a large part of our fan base that can’t fathom getting rid of a local guy.

When Moos hired Frost he committed himself to, “combining the old with the new”.Everyone knew he meant mixing Nebraska’s old ground game with his air raid style offense. He completely abandoned that promise his second year as all the media , “an offensive genius who’ll turn this program around” . Osborne new this offense could succeed in the BIG, at least four other teams here have copied that format, but Scott is an Offensive Genius. If Trev Alberts doesn’t understand that Frost can’t succeed because he’s not being honest with himself and this team, then Nebraska
will never rebuild because this failed experiment will continue to recruit the wrong players.
This is true. Tom O. would succeed by building right out of the box, strong offense and defense lines! Tom would tell you that it is a rebuild, not 'you better get us in yr 1 or 2"! Minn, Iowa, Wisc, Northwestern all have this concept. They openly laugh at Coach Frost!! Scott best running back Ozigbo was already here, Morgan, best receiver, already here! I'm a small donation person who gives $500 per yr! That hard earned money!

Clearly Frost has the leash he does because of who he was.

Bo was loved until some dorks could not handle the fact that he did not want to kiss your ***...He was gone

Riley was never given a real chance but I don't think it really mattered.

Billy C just never really knew how to play "the game" with the fans.

I keep reading that boosters stepped in to protect Frost from being fired last year. Who are these boosters, and more importantly, why do they not see the obvious that all the rest of the fanbase sees? A good coach doesn't produce a team that dwells at he bottom of the division every year.

I can see why some boosters want to protect Frost. The west is a horrible division (I mean, NW wins the division a lot), anyone that watches football knows the west is bad.

All it will take is Nebraska being "average" and they are winning the west 75% of the time. Boosters feel/felt that Frost could/would do that.

What in the stats below would give any suggestion that Frost had any chance of even being average?

the dude has been given a longer leash than any football coach in recent times and still people are able to somehow fantasize about him somehow magically transforming into an average coach

For me? Nothing.

But for boosters that are still scared of Bo...I get it.

I thought for sure he was gone last year.

What? A half dozen coaches fired since TO quit says differently.

Oh okay. Shut down this message board then...so recruits and their parents won't be offended.

And I'm surprised at you for liking that comment, king_kong. I wouldn't have thought you'd want this message board shut down.
I thought it was funny

as for the board, it's pretty pointless to discuss these 1-game football seasons that end before Labor Day

can't wait til the transfer portal opens back up & we have something to talk about

doesnt matter i am correct as usual. i am by fact a booster according to the NCAA and i take it seriously

quoting here from the NCAA (yes the NCAA)

Boosters play a role in providing student-athletes with a positive experience through their enthusiastic efforts. They can support teams and athletics departments through donations of time and financial resources which help student-athletes succeed on and off the playing field.

Boosters, referred to by the NCAA as “representatives of the institution’s athletic interests,” include anyone who has:

  • Provided a donation in order to obtain season tickets for any sport at the university.
  • ...
  • Been involved otherwise in promoting university athletics.
Once an individual is identified as a “representative of the institution’s athletics interests,” the person retains that identity forever.

You are correct about what? That you've had a booster, or that you are a booster? I'm a booster too, and I take it much more seriously than you do, that much I know, and I will retain that identity forever!

They are heavily influenced by Matt Davison who provides them with unprecedented access to the program. If Frost goes away - Davison is out. He is doing everything he can to keep his job including using scare tactics about what might happen to booster access if Frost is fired

Matt Davison is more invested in Frost keeping his job than Nebraska winning as has been much of the fanbase the last 2 years with the “5 year rebuild” propaganda
That doesn't make sense. Logic tells me that people who give money will always have access, and usually in proportion to the amount of money they give. It's not dependent upon Davidson being there.

I truly believe Bo's downfall was he made it plain he didn't want to be here and would jump ship the second a comparable/better coaching job became available. If he had liked it at Nebraska and acted like it, he may still be here. Most people would put up with his childish behavior if we thought he was fighting for us, not that he hated us.

Billy C had two problems. A horrible defense he wouldn't change the coordinator for and friction with TO including somebody leaking Callahan said he didn't like TO hanging around practice and he was a "crusty old F#$%"

Agreed...

No one wants to see how the sausage is made...with Bo we got to hear how much coaches get annoyed by us...we know they do but we still don't want to hear it.

Davison seemed a little more critical of our play on the radio Saturday. I think he knew it was in motion
On this board. And more than once. I understand that Osborne was likely one of those that discouraged his firing, but it seems likely there are others.
some big donors AND some former players wanted him to get this year. Trev has the ammo to pull the trigger right now and wasn’t going to risk letting Frost somehow get bowl eligible

Honestly Frost did us a favor with yesterdays loss. Trev can ignore the Knights of Osborne now, and if they *****, they can gtfo as well

The extra 3 games gave the Frost the last bit of rope he needed to hang himself.

Nobody can say he didn't get ample opportunity.
