Very excited about his commitment. Gotta assume the RB position is about full. I wonder if we still take Ohio RB (whose name escapes me at the moment).

I bet we take one more RB. Frost took 4 RB's at UCF after his first season down there.
Bryant may not play again. Bell could go to the NFL if he has a good season. We graduate two. That would give us Miles Jones. Bradley, and Washington without counting any new commits.

Head coach Scott Frost and running backs coach Ryan Held have talked with Johnson virtually every day since offering. It was that constant attention that played a large role in Johnson picking NU.
2. It has become clear that the coaching staff not only places a premium on running backs with speed in Frost's offense but also that they were concerned about the overall speed at the position that currently existed on the roster. What a difference a few months can make as NU added
seemingly within a few steps. Then, once in the open field, he seems to have another gear to his overall top-end speed. His speed and big-play ability make him a great fit in Frost's offense.

4. Once upon a time, the Huskers used to be able to pull some top talent out of the state of New Jersey on a fairly regular basis. However, it's been a while since NU has been able to consistently land difference-makers from the Garden State. Johnson is currently considered the No. 5 overall prospect in New Jersey and the No. 193 overall player in the nation. Perhaps Johnson could help them land more talent from Jersey in the future.
5. From all accounts, Johnson is a high character kid with a strong work ethic. He's also a winner which is something that really does matter. He comes from a Bergen Catholic program that has high expectations and performs at a high level every year. Johnson helped lead them to a state title last season. Bergen Catholic is also a program that produces several DI prospects each year so that could become an important connection down the road as well.
6. The addition of Johnson to the recruiting class means Nebraska can officially shut things down at the running back position going forward. Although they only have five total commits for 2019, it is nice for them to be able to cross one position off of their needs list and pour more attention elsewhere.
7. Johnson visited Nebraska a little over a month ago for NU's first junior day. Dating back to the final stretch of the 2018 class, this coaching staff has shown that once they get a player on campus they generally have a pretty good chance of eventually closing the deal.

Reggie Davis to Ryan Held is like going from the outhouse to the penthouse in terms of RB recruiting.
Great track speed. Did not put up very big rushing numbers last year though - would have expected better stats for a kid with his speed on a powerhouse program.
Based on stats, looks like this kid.

As stated by others, he shared carries in the backfield with a senior. he is the main guy this season. That high school turns out FBS talent on a yearly basis since people transfer there to attend school from area towns/cities.
Their leading rusher at RB last year was only a junior, Josh McKenzie. McKenzie got 145 carries for 907 yards, and Johnson only got 90 carries for 555 yards. Maybe Johnson will overtake him this year, but his stats last year weren't very impressive for a 4-star recruit. Our 2-star RB recruit (Grayson) had 145 carries for 1332 yards.
You can't teach speed though, so if the coaches can develop the other skills in him, he could be a steal.
Yep, he was a junior. People on other forums kept saying the starter was a senior. I went to YouTube and pulled up some games and it is in fact a junior as their starter.
I watched that game fast forwarding to Bergen's offense and Johnson's athletic ability really jumps off the screen. The junior is small back that they have rushing between the tackles.
Go to the 19:58 mark on that YouTube video and watch him accelerate from the 20 yard line to the endzone. Easily the most athletic kid on that football field. WOW!!!!

Like his film a lot. Very sudden and aggressive with his cuts. Takes tight angles, he's not looking to run 5 yds wide of the defender like a lot of HS kids, he really attacks the back shoulder of the defender and keeps moving north-south.
And when he goes, man he goes. Serious acceleration on this kid. Reminds me a bit of Ameer but not as good at breaking tackles yet. Maybe more top end speed than Ameer.

AA is a 4.6 guy. He’s got way more top end speed than Ameer. Though speed is of course not what made Ameer special.
His acceleration is lethal on the wheel route from watching tape of his high school games on YouTube. Tends to drop some passes though that are wide open.
I don't know why he doesn't get more touches and they had that smaller RB as the main running back. From what I can tell, they were not using Johnson as a regular running back but a hybrid type of player that would play out in space where his acceleration would be lethal.
This is why he is being recruited, and why he is interested in the program. Frost's offense thrives on kids that can win in space.

Also... can we steal that play? Looks like it is right up Frost's Offense's alley... maybe one of the insiders on here can send it to him.
I watched a lot of the game, he plays a lot, probably 50%. He was constantly either out wide or motioning. He seemed to be the secret weapon/go-to kind of play maker on that team. My guess is he is going to be in the Tyjon Lindsey roll. Not just an RB.
