Gibson is currently #13 in his weight class . However, he was a HUGE recruit earlier in his career winning Powerade, s32, Fargo.. and was def a top 5 p4p class recruit… he then had injuries and caused his ranking and performance to plummet… he recently took 4th in PA states and won his dapper Dan matchup.. and goes to powerhouse hs program Bishop, which has teammates Jax Forrest and Bo Basset… if Gibson can get back to where he was earlier he has huge upside.

And missed some time bc he was banned from the post season if I remember correctly. Huge upside.
He’s got some serious accolades but it’s a little concerning that he’s decommitted twice. Often times a decommitment is more of an offer getting pulled, a la Art Sitkowski/Miami. Sounds like injuries are the major problem but if he’s healthy he’s got the resume to be special.
Think his brother probably contributed to him flipping from Cornell to PSU… you make a good point… PSU started picking up some heavy hitter lightweights, lilliedhal, Desmond and not sure when Nagao transferred over, even w commitment from Gibson…so can’t blame him for transferring out.. biggest concern is how much is injuries limit his upside .. seems like a good gamble for us as he could be a gem.
Kerk was the #1 p4p class recruit.. guy was going succeed wherever he went.. maybe he maxed out his potential at PSu over Ohio state.. who knows..Worked out ok for Kerkvliet...
Lol, I know...but he did commit to Minnesota, switched to Ok State then signed with Ohio State before going to Penn State.
Interesting pickup. He could be a contributor or a backup who knows. I guess injuries held him back recently. If it helps land more kids from McCort it could be big.
Forrest and Basset are generational talent… think Spencer Lee lvl… Melvin is building a solid case for himself too…

Barring reinjury, I don't see him being a backup. If redshirted, I hope he uses it to develop and compete and not become stale. Rivera will be good for him.
A lot will depend on how healthy he is I suppose. Will he ever regain his form when he was dominant.
Came here and decided he did not want to be a college student. Was training with SKWC for awhile(not sure if he still is). Wrestling for Puerto Rico 61kg, lost to Suriano first round of Pan-Ams this year 3-2
Two things on that: 1) Koll left as head coach at Cornell. He was the coach when that decision was made. Also, 2) His brother was committed there and then went to PSU. He followed suit.
I suppose he realized that we're a better fit.
Thrilled to have him on this team. We're getting a lot deeper! Just need to get that heavyweight!!!
I don’t know that whole story but it sounds more like he couldn’t make up his mind more than red flags about his ability.
