When you take selfish, Ill-advised shots, you deserve to get boo’d. It’s one thing if you are just struggling, no one should boo a struggling UK player who is competing and giving it their all. However, when you completely high-jack the team’s offense, that’s a completely different story.

So I can come boo your kid right? It’s crappy behavior.
These aren’t pros out there earning a paycheck. They are young adults that are trying to improve and play a game.
No defending this behavior.

Never boo amateur athletes who play on your team.

I was in attendance in 2007 when the crowd boo’d when Tubby put Sheray Thomas in against IU. Sheray ended up getting the game winning rebound.

Boo pros all you want. If you boo amateurs, you’re trash and should seriously examine your priorities because kids throwing a ball through a hoop means a little too much to you.

Was Boston boo'd tonight? Couldn't hear it on tv.

I was frustrated at that shot too, it was off balance and the game state was such that the game could have easily gotten away from us. But that said, the kid is going to be really good eventually IMO. Stick with the kids and let's see where they go.

Everyone is clamouring for Cal to change his strategy in recruiting and I thought he did that with this class. You know maybe 3 1nDones but a bunch of kids that will develop over a few years. So you want him to change it up it's going take some transition to the new system. It's just going more roughly because they two instant impact freshman were not as advertised thus far.

You hit on a good point here that probably a lot of UK fans have considered and that this board neglects... and that is that this team will have a really solid core for the next few years.

Still doesn’t deserve to be booed . He’s not even out there with a bad attitude . He’s clearly struggling and just not meeting expectations . But even when on the bench he isn’t sulking

No need to boo him. If this team has any chance of making any noise we better hope he finds confidence and starts playing like many expected .

I sure hope most of this group stays.I do worry some will transfer out.

Possibly, who knows...

I just know if I’m building a core group of guys, Ware, Allen, Jackson are a good start. Keep Boston, Clarke and possibly even Fletcher around and it’s a bonus.

I will take back the word “deserve”. He doesn’t “deserve” to be boo’d, but at some point when you are shooting your team out of the game with selfish shot selection, the potential for booing exists.

He’s a good kid. I believe he’s the one that said he invited his teammates to the gym at 6 am right?

When he starts clicking, the bandwagon will roll in praising his every step.

Only time will tell if Boston lives up to expectations.

Boston still didn't play well, but I thought he was a lot less selfish tonight. He only shot 3-4 times in the first half. He had a nice steal and some nice layups. Earlier in the year, he was running over the defender every time and tonight he made moves and got around them. Booing him is just ******. He's cheering his teammates on even when he's benched. I'm sticking with him just like I did with Askew when people wanted to know what he was doing in college. Boston will get it. He's too good not to.

I remember when fans booed one of Pitino's teams in Rupp for allowing 3-4 consecutive baskets by throwing over the press. Pitino was incensed after the game and actually alluded that incidents like that would cause him to leave. I know that Anthony Epps was also very upset after the game. Amateur athletes should never be booed for subpar performance; no one intentionally plays poorly.

I hope you are right. However, it hasn’t stopped players from leaving for the NBA before they’re ready in previous classes, assuming they think they will get drafted in the first round. Most young guys anymore have no allegiance to UK. They just want the moolah. I’d love for Boston to come back next season and blossom.

People said the same about the Shai class. I hope you're right but veteran cores don't happen very often under Coach Deniro.

I mean I don’t even know the kid....

But he was a pre season All American with 5 stars next to his name and a sure fire draft pick...

And he’s on course to be a bust compared to past super stud freshman.

Gotta feel for the kid. Could still get it. Might not. Has to adjust his total mentality.

I like Boston. IMO he’s playing hard and I see no evidence of any attitude problem. But he just can’t shoot the ball. I hope I’m wrong but I just don’t see that changing, at least not in the short term.

My problem with that is the kids won’t know the difference.
I don't condone booing but after this psychotic year I can at least understand when people boo at a game for some level of catharsis.

Do we know how many fans were booing and what they were booing? The details actually do matter. They might have been the refs for all we know.

I don’t condone booing. I’ll say that, if a kid is trying and just can’t find that rhythm or whatever is missing, but do we really consider athletes that are on Boston’s level amateur athletes? He has been in the aau system fir year and is 100% still one and done. Probably still goes in first round of draft. If he is ginna be 19/20 in the pros can he not handle the booing? If he can’t is he tough enough to play in the nba? Would go pro now if he could. Probably doesn’t have any loyalty to the University or state, but we either worship these guys or boo them? Fair or not part of life? Not sure. Again I wouldn’t ever boo him or any other uk player just curious to these thoughts.

He’s eighteen. While legally an adult, that’s a kid to most of us.
And he’s not getting paid directly to play ball. That makes him an amateur by very definition.

there’s no real good justification for booing a college player.

I agree. Guess my point was just these top 10 guys really don’t seem like amateur athletes to me. Been getting all kinds of perks for probably years and most of them and there families have probably gotten many benefits over the years that other “amateur” guys have not. I was kinda off topic a little. Booing should be reserved for people like Grayson Allen.

LOL, you seriously think any of the freshmen on this team will be here past their sophomore years? If so, name one.
And it's also hilarious that you think Cal changed his recruiting. He didn't change a thing, he just didn't get the top end recruits that he offered. He also did an awful job on player evaluation. How he looked at BJB and thought he could carry the load, is beyond me.
He needs to change the culture first and foremost.

You should never boo a player for taking a bad shot in college- what in the world.

Sure other rival programs are in fact loving it however.

I hope the fans booing was directed more towards Cal. for having Boston in the game. at least I hope so. Toppin looked much better than Boston. I have never seen a player with a longer leash. the kid must have pictures of Cal and the neighbors dog!

It's never occurred to me to "boo". That's just not something a grown man should ever say. Sounds like something a kindergartener would say

Then every analyst in the country is a bad evaluator because he was a consensus top recruit.

I think Devin, Cam, Ware and Toppin all are multi-year guys. They are all raw and I'm not sure any of them have real NBA potential. Jacob was gonna sit out this year and his brother played past his sophomore (edit: thought was junior but was redshirt soph) season so I don't see a huge rush in him.

Funny you say he just didn't get them, still the #1 class, I just think the composition of players are different.

If the kids improve enough to go NBA after next year then they deserve it and we probably will benefit from the large jump in skill set.

By all means, laugh it up though. You can be a fan in anyway you choose.

Yeah they are pros. Do not attempt to pretend like these 5 star players are just regular college athletes. Many of these guys wouldn't even be in college if they could go directly to the NBA. Should the fans boo? I wouldn't have, but if you are going to take your time and money to go watch these games, you should be able to do anything that isn't considered unauthorized or illegal.
