There would be plenty of good seats available in Toronto regardless. Even if Duke, Kansas, Kentucky or North Carolina played in the event there would be good seats available. I believe capacity for that arena is 19.8k.

Home game crowds for Buffalo and St. Bonaventure? Aren’t they easy driving distance from Toronto? What is the drive time to Toronto from Piscataway?

Yikes. 20k seats for a game between us and St. Bona in Toronto. ugly.
Was thinking of going when it was S. Carolina. Not now though.

So maybe time we join South Carolina in jumping ship from this one?

It's still a net positive for the team considering if we dropped it we'd replace it with a game against Central Connecticut or something.

LC 88, thankfully I haven’t just finished eating. All those years wasted in the Eastern 8 and Atlantic 10. I can remember thinking what in the world is a major state university doing playing rinky dink schools with high school gyms.

Proud, I don’t think you will ever see Rutgers playing at schools like Duquesne, GW, St Bona, St JoesLaSalle, Fordham, Manhattan, Columbia,or other small Northeast schools again. Not sure if we will ever play at Princeton either which would not matter to me at all. Pete Carril is long gone and you don’t see Illinois playing at Northern Illinois or Ohio State playing at Wright State.

Since Hobbs loves to throw away money to decommit from games (see Miami and UCLA in football), spend the money to get out of this Toronto game and schedule a top opponent - home and home or whatever. No need to play this game in Toronto. Minimal gain / all lose. Kids on team will be like " what the hell are we here for?...oh yeah, our captain who bailed on us"......

1. We are getting paid to be in this game.
2. I believe it’s a non-exempt preseason game. Meaning it’s extra games you get. You can’t replace with your own scheduled home games
3. Neutral site / away games are much better for tourney resume

We should happily be keeping this on our schedule. With the side note that it’ll be a little bit of a stinger reminder and a could’ve been good story in the backdrop. Now it’s just a business trip

If we had just entered a real tournament with real teams (plural), none of this would have happened. Instead, we are just trying to pad our record with our other OOC games.

Any of you guys remember the International Bowl in I think 2008? Ray Rice ran for like 230..I was there and had a small interest in a Toronto restaurant (long story) which I took some RU fans to....Love visiting that city....

Lots of HS basketball talent in Toronto and its suburbs that get recruited to play in the States. That alone with a good outing by RU is worth playing the game.

To the righteous so called fans that think playing St. Bonnie’s, who has been to the tourney much more recently than us, and is usually a middle to top A-10 team, get over yourself. Anytime you can play a neutral site game , or even a game with maybe more Bonnie fans, in a great city like Toronto, it will help our NET, and more importantly give our young team experience on the road in a Semi Tourney setting with other good teams going there. It is fair to say all 5 other teams have been better than us the last 5 years. Sure beats playing Maine or Central Connecticut State. Finally , if we win , it will help our resume come March. We haven’t left the State or been invited to a tourney in many years . This is a great sign that the program is rising nationally and just maybe some Toronto young stud takes a liking to us . Love the game.

Look. We're saddled with this game. But it's not horrible. The Bonnies have a good tradition, and Toronto's a nice town. It's pre-league season, and the Bonnies will be a good test/opponent in an away environment that isn't as nutty as the Reilly Center can get. Now, we likely wouldn't have taken this game if Pike wasn't trying to reward Omo, but it now exists and we have to play it. And it's not a good look for Omo. All those things seem true. And yet we're playing the game, so RU has to make the best of it. As bad things go, it's not all that bad. Done.

Playing St. Bonaventure tier teams isn't the problem. They just shouldn't be our second or third best OOC opponent. Playing more than one Bryant/Niagara tier team is the problem with the schedule.

yup,we wasted big exposure games vrs UCLA and Canes for Kansas and Umass.so this should be easy for Roy Hobbs to get out of.

I think kids will enjoy the experience.

Of all the things to be concerned or upset about this one is near the bottom.

To be fair, when we started in the EAA we had Penn State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia with us. Half the league was not rinky-dink schools. Now as for what came after that ...

I don't think St Bonaventure making the NCAAS 2 times in the last 7 years, makes this coming season's game a game that should be played. It doesn't mean we schedule a patsy, but RU gets more credit with another road game.

I think 3 road games before January (Pitt, another game other than Bona).& one of the 2 B1G games, does more than a neutral against a team in the 120s.....we are betting heavily that beating St Bonaventure is going to payoff because they're going to win the A-10 tourney and make rhe dance??

Look, they're 18-16 last year, ranked at 121 ending last season, RU is around 70. Bona benefits more for this game than the other way around.

If you told me we scheduled a game at Butler, or Va Tech or Georgetown or even a return trip to Miami, I would take my chances. Find a more reasonable game that registers early in the season. It's too bad SCarolina couldn't stick with the matchup....I'd even rather play a one off game at South Carolina than go to Toronto vs Bona.

It's a game if you win, fans are going to quickly forget about it and it's the Super Bowl for an A10 team that is mid level, to help the schedule strength??

2019....Bona.....Kenpom 121....18-16

2018....Bona.....Kenpom 68......28-8

2017....Bona......Kenpom 91.....20-12

2016....Bona......Kenpom 89.....22-9

2015....Bona......Kenpom 112....18-13

2014....Bona.......Kenpom 84.....18-15

2013.....Bona......Kenpom 119....14-15

Gonna need a very very good year from St Bonaventure to at least mimic or replicate a bottom 3 B1G team on average Kenpom in the last couple of years. Last 7 year average for Bona is Kenpom at 98. 98 is solid and on a neutral court, not sure where the upside is for RU vs another road game against a similar ranked opponent or a true road game vs a team better than an average of 98.
