The 15 isn't a 'good seat' for 1/2 the game.
Thats where I had my season tickets for the last 14 years, they moved us because its now a visitors section........they are really good, there is not a bad seat in the stadium because the stands are so close to the field.....I loved those seats, I had to fess up more now

Curious now because I haven't measured....how wide are the seats on the benches at Chapman?

Boone Pickens post reno is one of my favorite stadiums. Plenty of concessions, convenient and nice restrooms with no or little waiting, most seats offer very good viewing, huge tailgating scene all around the stadium, complete brick facade on the exterior, etc..

Pre reno it was...well....a dump.

Yes it is very nice, went there to watch Bedlam a few years ago. Got tired of drunk OU and OSU fans throwing beer at each other and parts of it getting on me. Never went back, that's why I will be in the TU section this time

Its so bad at Bedlam ( fans from both) that I quit going, I let my kids have the tickets and I watch on TV

Definitely, you can't stereotype a fan base because of a few idiots. I have met great people from OU and OSU . 99 percent of the time , both fan bases are more then friendly when I have been to games in Norman and Stillwater . Matter of fact, the most trashy fan base was ORU with the TU sucks chants.

I just hate seeing fans act like jerks, Bedlam brings out the worse on both sides........its supposed to be fun, I rib OU fans and get ribbed myself and its all in fun, but at the game people start throwing punches

Exactly........I come on here and you and I have argued back and forth, but we are fans we are supposed to support our teams, but its all in fun
Exactly, nothing personal about it, it's all in fun. Things such as our former University President passing away this week is something tragic. Makes things like a football game seem so little.

Thats not our problem, why should we make less money, thats not how a business operates and unfortunately college football is a business
Yes and the P5 conferences make it damn near impossible to gain entry into that world. Also it did not start out as a business. That has only been recently(past 20-30yrs) that business won out over fair and equal competition. That's all I've got to say on the issue.

If OSU did 1 for 1 I bet TU would agree to pay the travel costs for OSU if OSU did the same when we visited and then each home team just keeps their gate and concessions.
I think we are just being consistent, we do not sign 1-1 contracts with non P-5 schools, not many, if any P-5 schools do

This is not correct, as several Big 12 schools have 1-1 contracts with non-P5 schools.

Oklahoma/Army is just one example.
This is absolutely correct. UCF as a matter of school policy prohibits any athletic team from signing agreements that are not 1-1. They received more money than their share of the AAC TV contract for a single visit to Michigan and almost twice that for agreeing to cancel the return trip to Orlando. They have had South Carolina contracts in the past, with the back end of the Texas deal this year, and Maryland in the future. There are plenty of reasons that other teams can justify not playing a 1-1 with Tulsa. The fact that "nobody else is doing it" isn't one of them. There is no justification for OSU not playing Tulsa on 1-1 basis except the very real possibility of getting beat and the coach getting heat under his chair.

Is Hill the starting rb? Who else plays as a rb?
Yes Justice Hill is starting (leading freshman rusher in NCAA last season 1,142) they are trying to sort out the back up, maybe not for our game, but at some point in the season I think it will be the true freshman J D King, he is pretty impressive and all the others are young so they don't have a huge experience advantage

I believe that is the exception not the rule, and I bet being a government institution I bet they are required to do that

I looked through some other Big 12 future schedules and it seems that OSU and K-State are the only members that refuse to schedule 1-1 series with non-P5 schools.

Here are just a few more examples:

Baylor/BYU
Iowa State/Ark State
Iowa State/UNLV
Iowa State/Akron
Kansas/Houston
Kansas/Ohio
Kansas/Central Mich
Texas/UCF
TCU/SMU
Texas Tech/Houston
West Virginia/East Carolina

ISU and KU are schools that other P-5 schools sign to play 2-1, but, there may be more than what I thought, although looking at schedules you have to be careful, sometimes the last game is several seasons down the road or not set for a few seasons

Texas - UCF was a 2-1. (Only series I looked at). The third game of that series has been pushed back numerous times and is now scheduled for 2023.

The third game is a one off signed to make amends after the UCF alums pissed on those Texas boosters while they sat in their stadium seats during their first game at the opening of the UCF stadium. Maybe my memory is fuzzy. Everything else they do is 1-1. Its school policy. That I am sure of.

It was a big deal at the time. The President had to write a letter to the boosters of UT apologizing and then he wrote a letter to every alum and student telling them that if it continued that they would take a serious look at cancelling the football program. (there were numerous similar behavior problems at the Citrus Bowl including a wrongful shooting of a police officer by another police officer caused in part by the unchained behavior and unruly crowd they were dealing with. The school had managed to deflect their inability to deal with townie elements on the Citrus Bowl location, but the pissing thing happened in the new on campus facility and now he had to face up to the fact that a portion of his crowd was just there to cause chaos.) When you consider that they have hundreds of thousands of alumni and students, that was an expensive communication.

I don't believe that game is 1-1. It is reportedly a home and a neutral sight game. One game in Norman and one game in Yankee Stadium

Per NewsOk.com: "Army will travel to Norman on Sept 22, 2018. OU will go to West Point NY to return the game on Sept 26, 2020."

Doesn't make much sense for OU to travel that far to that small a stadium. Yankee Stadium makes more sense.

SoonerSports.com also shows the location as West Point. These teams did meet at Yankee Stadium in 1961, but I can't find any evidence that the 2020 game has been moved.

Either way, my point is still that 8 of the 10 Big 12 schools seem willing to sign 1-1 deals with non-P5 schools, with OSU and KSU as the exceptions.

When is the last time Arkansas played in Tulsa?

OSU and TU are my two favorite schools, in that order. I am an OSU grad, but both parents TU grad.

I am very glad the OSU vs. TU series is renewed. I hope it continues for many years. However, unless you are wearing the most Hurricane-tinged glasses, a 2 for 1 series is what this series should be. Both teams, IMO, clearly benefit from the game. OSU gets a close away game. And TU gets a marquee home game. But the difference is incremental attendance. OSU may see a percentage point increase in attendance. TU, however, will experience a sell-out. That is very good value.

I look forward to a great competitive game later this month.

It is my understanding that the return game site is being negotiated with the TV networks at Yankee Stadium. However, I must say I have nothing to back that up. They have played at Yankeee Stadium in the past.

Yankee Stadium is a disaster as a football venue. Because they needed a little league right field fence for guys like Brett Gardner and Ellsbury to be able to hit home runs, the field gets tight in that corner. It's not as bad as Wrigley where every possession went in the same direction, but almost.

Joe C has maintained that the game will be played at West Point, a true away game and thus a 1-1. It is fine that osu doesn't do 1-1s with non-p5 schools, but let's not pretend like everyone else schedules the same way osu does.

Interesting aside....just saw where OU and Temple agreed to a 3 game series last year.
