My wife almost worried me to death to take her to see it. She was/is a huge Freddie Mercury fan. I watched a documentary about Freddie’s life a couple of weeks before seeing the movie. The movie is solid and followed the life and times of Freddie Mercury and Queen pretty accurately. It was a very good movie, and seeing/hearing it in the theater is definitely a must. The actor who played Freddie did an admirable job-he’s not an “A-lister” by any means, but I thought he was great. Have you ever started watching a movie and start trying to figure out what role you saw one of the actors played in something you saw previously? I saw the guy playing Freddie and knew I had seen his obscure *** before in something. I finally figured out where it was. He was in a movie with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts called “Larry Crowne” from a few years back. He had a role as a student in that movie-nothing memorable at all. I’m sure he’s done other things in his career, but that’s the only time I’ve ever seen him. I only say this because he really was very good in his portrayal of one of the most complex characters in music industry history. I definitely recommend the movie. It was very good. My wife thought it was great. I only know this because she “thanked” me for escorting her to see it later that evening-several times, in fact lol. I can’t guarantee that any of you guys will have a similar experience but I guarantee you that if you are/we’re a fan of Queen that you will find this flick to be very entertaining.
