Paul needs to get his head straight. He was beyond frustrated at Illinois as evidenced by that ridiculous 5th foul and it carried over to last night as well. Not sure what they showed on TV but he had to be calmed down by one of the trainers when he came out at the end.

Cam's confidence is shot.

Caleb loses focus too often

Cliff gets frustrated too easily

It's incredible how this has all unraveled so quickly since Mag's injury.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I view this as a good thing. The team was playing terrible and frustration shows they care at least. I'd be more concerned if they weren't and seemed OK with losing this game and joking around after

Nothing that happened was over the top and out of line. If it continues, it's a problem. These guys are competitors and showing frustration shows they do care and want to win

I generally agree but I think people get way too caught up analyzing this kind of thing.

Yeah, frustration comes out, but you win together and lose together. I don't see bad body language and finger pointing among teammates as anything but bad attitude that needs to be fixed.

Remember when Geo told Jacob Young to keep his chin up? That's the sign of a good leader. When leadership is pouting, you need new leaders.

I vote this thread as the stupidest of the day.

I agree with your take.

I don't believe this is a negative for one game in which we played horribly.

The coach has repeatedly said the chemistry on this team is great. The guys act like adults when interviewed.

They are also super-competitive, so they are going to react negatively to lackadaisical play from their teammates.

If a leader of the team is out there clearly busting his *** to produce a win, a player who is not doing the same will respond positively if the leader aggressively points that fact out to him as they play. It would be worse if the leader said nothing. They care, and their teammates know they care.

If the guy expressing the frustration was however dogging it also, that would cause dissension.

Concerning Mulcahy, the rest of the team knows how competitive he is, so they understand he is only mad at himself when he throws his hissy-fits. They are adults, so they appreciate the fact that he is 100% going to do his best to do whatever it takes to win.

Cliff's play says a lot about this team. He played the first half without being focused. During the second half, he started taking the game seriously, likely because of input of his teammates and coaches. He missed his first two foul shots. He made only one of the next two. As the message started to sink in that the players had to up their game, he started blocking shots he just watched in the first half, and he made his foul shots after that. By then, it was too late.

Nebraska had gained enough confidence to maintain their effort through to the last whistle, and we lost.

We have to realize that Cliff is a work in progress. He is making big strides every year. I hope he comes back next year, so we can enjoy his continued growth.

Pike brings in players who are fighters, so we should be good to finish out in some kind of positive fashion.

You should ban yourself for a take that idiotic unless you're trolling. First game at the RAC in two weeks; coming off 2 straight losses and a sold out crowd. GTFO with your nonsense.
There’s a human element to this **** man. You don’t just wake up with high energy for every game you play. Some nights you just can’t get there mentally and when that happens sometimes you can end up with a win and sometimes you get run over.

Just how it is sometimes.

This

I watched pike at the end of the game during the alma mater ….I have him angry after losses and annoyed before but not this time

He seemed to have a demeanor in talking to others like “good, we needed this wake up call…now I’ll have their attention again “….he was trying like crazy to get their energy up last night and never got it suststained

Coukd be Mis-reading it, but that’s what I think I saw.

Coaches do that …you can’t have your team at 100% intensity All season long ..impossible .

The next game’s focus will be telling

Players being upset should be a normal reaction. The inability to change what is happening has far more importance.A over achieving team has reached a crossroads in the season without floor leadership and go to scorers to change direction. The onus is on the players to show they can overcome a three game losing streak.Failure to do so will impact NCAA selection and possibly 2024 recruiting.
