Very interesting, and very long, article about Bobby Knight. Worth reading. The title says a lot, "The General Who Never Was."

Maybe he didn't hit an opposing player but he hit an opposing coach. Joe B. I will never forgive him for that and a million other reasons. He is the worst of the worst examples of what college basketball should be. The fact ESPN hired him is a cruel joke.

Bobby Knight is a tale of two people
One had a brilliant basketball IQ,

The other was a hateful old jerk, who thought his beliefs where the only one that matters.
any thing else was wrong. He was abrasive/violent to anyone who didn't agree or obey his ideas.

End the end the basketball IQ is lost amid the endless bitterness of an old hateful man who time past by, with unwillingness to change with the world around him..........

1/8 a good man and 7/8's a hateful self righteous brute who will be remembered for his failures more than his successes.

In a strange out of character moment for him for UK fan's, he once introduced Ralph Beard to a group of young people with the praise
"you young people don't know this man, but He was the Micheal Jordon of his day"

Some say Hitler was a genious too. Both he and Knight were successful mainly because they were brutal and intimidating.

Booby refused to go on PTI to discuss Kentucky's possible undefeated season.

Overrated coach. Oh he was great for a ten year stretch between mid seventies to mid eighties. But that was it. He could never adapt to changing of the game. Never won a championship and only one final four after the three point line was introduced. The guy was only forty six after his last championship and he just gave up on the sport even though he coached it another twenty years. He had a window and then lived off a cult personality that Hoosiers are more than happy to feed into.

Look at Cal. The guy wins where ever he goes. Learned the dribble drive. Accepted early entries. Fast break and defense first. He's been a GREAT coach for TWENTY years. Same with Pitino and K and Rupp and Smith.

Those guys had basketball minds that understood the game enough to accept and adapt to innovations. Bobby knight mastered Atari 2600 video games and never upgraded to Nintendo.

Cawood said it all right on-air, when UK knocked Indiana out of the tournament in 1975.

"Bobby Knight, showing the true coach that he is, refuses to shake the hand of Coach Hall...well I'm sure Coach Joe Hall could care less, or if you'd pardon the expression, give a damn"

Suck it Knight you worthless POS.

Anyone read the not so great hits section? Man, what a long list of transgressions for Bobby Knight. Unbelievable he lasted as long as he did there considering that many problems came up with Bobby Knight.
