Dude is a grown man with 3 DUI’s, lost his job due to alcohol and was drunk on the radio a few weeks back in a highly public role.

Telling him he doesn’t have a problem with alcohol and he’s just like everyone else would kinda be a good example of enabling. My 2 cents.
do you have a source for his being drunk on the radio?

blood (even at .21 BAC) is thicker than water.

tossing out unfounded accusations as fact in order to pile on & having others accept them and run with them - now that's enabling

Exactly when did he receive his 3rd DUI? , I was just aware of the one in Cincinnati

It’s better than a soap opera , I have Family in West Virginia be there this weekend will be interesting. How can a guy have 3 separate attorneys saying they represent him in this situation.

Maybe he hires them when he's drunk and forgets?

Shocker that HR (probably) messed this up...is there a more worthless part of any organization than the (hot) girls that are in HR and do nothing all day, report to no one and have no job description. but somehow tons of power and information???!!

I think the long term drunk needed to be fired.

Sooooo everyone that drinks should be fired?

Or, do you have a definition of "drunk"
Not really. Everybody knows what the legal limits are. If they get picked up for DUI, they deserve what they get.

Social drinking is fine, too bad only only 10% are social drinkers, the rest are just drinkers.

I know a lot of drunks that have ruined their lives and the lives of others. No sympathy here for the drunk.

So, if you get a ticket and/or arrested for something, you should get fired?

Did I say that? This is about DUI's, not speeding, or running a red light.

I'd like to continue but I have a Dr's. appointment, but I'm gonna be pretty consistent in my personal thinking Super.

you? prob not. me? prob not. the face of a public university being paid millions of dollars? seems likely. more likely if the school wants you out and is unwilling to use its power to protect you/themselves.
Yeah, I think this was WVU realizing they had an "out" and they took it.

If he just won a natty...well...that is a different story.

The emails in question went directly to the AD and Assistant AD of Basketball and eventually to President Gee and the WVU legal counsel, HR was never involved.

What about a county court judge getting a DUI? Should they get fired?
If you're asking me, which you're not, he should be under the same standards as everyone else. I know tons of people who have had DUI's and without exception, they all get a second chance. I.E. Counseling, etc. The 2nd DUI proves they didn't learn anything from the first wake up call, hence, they are unlikely to change, and if they suffer consequences, it was their own doing.

I realize there are exceptions, and I do know many LONG TERM drunks who quit drinking. I'm sure that's one of the hardest things an alcoholic ever does in their life. Kudos to them.

What I don't get is this. These guys make a fortune, and if they're drinkers, heavy drinkers, then why don't they just UBER in and out of the bar and save themselves from the fallout? If a guy wants to get shitfaced and drive they make their own bed.

I disagree with this. Being part of the hiring and termination process with various employers. The clerical side is astonishing whether it's a hire or termination. Just to protect the company. I for myself see it as a benefit to push all of that on the HR staff.

On a personal note, I was involved in 3 rollover accidents as a kid riding with my two brothers when my drunk *** old man was driving. We all suffered injuries, luckily none of us were killed or maimed for life.

I've lost 3 family members to drunken driving. One was my 6 year old nephew and it was my brother-in-law who was driving drunk.

It has impacted my sister-in-law for the last 32 years. It ruined her life. She's never recovered. She lost both her husband and 6 year old son. She was only 27, and now she's a broken woman at 59.

So, no sympathy from me when someone is intoxicated and takes the wheel and hurts innocent people.

When my wife and I go out, she may have 1 or maybe 2 beers, but its all good because I'm the designated driver and I'll be 100% sober. I never liked booze, the lap sip of alcohol I had was 1979 when my son was born. I don't need it to enjoy life.

I would not even say Uber, even though that clearly works, but why not just have a driver...have it built into your contract.

Here is the thing, if you have gone to happy hour with co-workers, you drove home drunk. Not excusing it but just saying what it is, it is all over the place.

Alcohol can be a fun drug but it is very risky, like betting your sanity on Nebraska football the past 10 years.
