So was just talking with a really good friend of mine who went to WVU, and he had an interesting thought... What if Cal throws Huggy a bone to get his coaching career back on track and hires him as UK's "defensive coordinator"? Cal and Huggs have been pals for a long time and I could actually see it working out if both parties were into it. Cal owes Huggs for both Oscar and Tre anyway. Thoughts?

If cal needs a defensive coordinator and a offensive coordinator in Welch, then what the hell are we paying him 9 million dollars for?
A HoFer in Huggins would not want to be an assistant coach. It's a neat "what if?" though.

I more mean an assistant who can help focus on the defensive side of the ball. But yes, I realize basketball isn't as separated of a game like football.

The circumstances of Huggins’ exit from West Virginia were a total embarrassment. The radio comments by themselves would have likely gotten him fired in some places, but they gave him a second chance only for the DUI to happen shortly afterwards. I can’t see a major program going anywhere near him even as an assistant right now.
At least he would be relatable to alot of us fans who have suffered through the past 10 years.
That's fair... my buddy who I was talking with kinda looked at it like Saban who has helped his guys like Sark and Kiffin after they've been canned... but you're right. The reasons Huggs was fired was because of his off the court behavior.

Who knows. He comes from a coaching family.
His dad Charlie's teams won 3 state championships . He coached in Tuscarawas county here in Ohio.
