I like the hire. He and Greg have been in the same places for a lot of their careers and no doubt work well together.

*Correction: His name is spelled Fraser.
Will be seeing plenty of Fraser the new couple of weeks. And is it a good idea to hire another defensive coach having the same name as a tree type? :Sly:

Joking aside, Bob and Greg have been on many stops together, and he is a solid hire.

What position group will he coach? Linebackers? And if so does that mean anything with regard to the idea that we might hire Ant Campanile as LB Coach and Co-DC?

If you post it on the internet, it must be true.
I will wait until official announcements.
I doubt there will be a link yet if it’s not official or even close to happening yet timeline wise and the NFL regular season isn’t even over yet but he’s followed GS through many stops which is why I figured he’d end up here sooner or later.

EDIT: There is a link stating it:

Longtime Schiano lieutenant Bob Fraser will be on staff and coach linebackers, two individuals with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media. But Fraser is first expected to finish out his season responsibilities as a New England Patriots coaching assistant.

Its in a Kratch article on NJ.com. I think it says he will be the LB coach.
I had expected Bob to be on the staff , if Greg was hired.
LB coach would have been my bet, but STC is a possibility.
I don't see Anthony C being added, but that's just my guess.

Greg Schiano has added another assistant to his Rutgers staff.

But he likely won’t get to town on a permanent basis until after the Super Bowl.

Fraser has been with Schiano everywhere - the first stint at Rutgers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ohio State and then briefly in Foxborough earlier this year.

I don't necessarily disagree re: Anthony--seems like it may have happened by now if it was going to, and he obviously has choices. I guess it still could but every day that passes makes it seem less likely.

But if not him, who is our DC? Does Fran get bumped up from co-DC to DC and Secondary Coach? Or do we bring in someone totally different (like Randy Shannon?) to be over top of the defense without also managing a specific position group? Interested to see how the rest of the staff fills out.

If Fraser is LB coach , can't see Anthony coming in as co-DC.
I think Greg will be the real DC and co was civen to Brown for salary purposes .
He'll have a hand in running the D but Schiano will be in charge of it.
I don't think another co-DC will be named.

But after putting the Fraser as STC scenario in my head, Anthony might just grab the LB coach spot and have co-DC title as an enticement and salary purposes.
Could be with Michigan going to the Citrus bowl playing Bama, Anthony is needed to stay till that's over and mum's the word until then.

Also if Brown the Wolverines DC gets a College HC position , Anthony might succeed him and the wait is because of that.

Not surprised, now I guess Smith will be next. Boys are back in town.

I would be disappointed if the staff from GS’ last tenure here is reconstituted- he needs to rely on his connections to bring in new blood.

Daevon Robinson to Robert Morris makes absolutely no sense. He would’ve been a legit big ten receiver under Schiano.
