You know what I think of when I think of Diaco? I think of the disclaimer after every ad for a mutual fund. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns. Banker was better.

And this guy is the highest paid assistant coach in Husker history. I disagree with Dingle. His nonsense is one reason every UCONN fan is glad he is gone. People were loving this guy when he first came to Lincoln and buying his hype. However, you should be able to listen to him for five minutes and understand he is nutty.
I was NOT a Diaco booster. I was hoping he would bring guys flying at QBs from all over the place and be a little more unpredictable than Banker. Wrong. Banker was a better DC. Stodgy. Unimaginative but better. Diaco just does so many things that make absolutely no sense.
My gosh, wtf did he say? Can someone translate? No wonder we can’t tackle, the kids can’t understand anything coming out of his mouth.
I like it better when he gets stuck on elevators for over an hour after the game.
After listening to him, I would be shocked if he could be the night manager at a Taco Bell, let alone a college dc or hc. How the hell did this guy get through the interview process so many times to get to this level? Laughing

Banker was a bad DC and Riley hired him here. Disco is no better and maybe worse and Riley hired him. As bad as the defense has been under both the offense has sucked even more and Riley is responsible for that also. The fault for this mess lies with Riley
I never claimed Banker was a good DC. I said he was better than Diaco and I also stated that MR's downfall has been his choice of some of his assistants. I still believe that Diaco was forced on him and I think there's a good chance we would had a better record with Banker than Diaco. Diaco's scheme is just ludicrous.

The recruiting and player development of defensive players in 2008 must’ve been f****** kick *** then. Because the 2009 Nebraska defense was salty as hell. Perhaps better than any other ever at Nebraska.
I thought Diaco would be great, he had some good defenses at Notre Dame and thought that would translate but I guess not. I’m not sure I understand what he’s saying which I think puts me in line with 100% of people who watched that clip. If you need 3 nfl quality linemen to have your scheme be effective, it’s not a good scheme. If he’s saying it’s just he hasn’t had time to implement the scheme, then it’s too complicated. I can’t pretend to know all the nuances of the defense and I’m not dumb enough to think our defense is littered with draftable guys but my god how hard is it to put in a decent, learnable scheme that plays to the talents of your defense and minimizes the weaknesses? I don’t expect the 85 bears out there but come on. And when you have a bad performance, just say that. Don’t make a bunch of convoluted, unintelligible excuses. I don’t even think the defense was that bad today but now we’re all talking about it because he went all Tom Cruise jumping on the couch crazy with his quotes.

That's a guy who feels the need to be the "smartest guy in the rooom" but actually has no idea how to be that guy. Just act super intelligent...use a bunch of big words (that don't make a bit of sense)...and hope nobody notices that you don't really have a clue.
I have to imagine that's the reason he stays up in the booth. That way the weather conditions(wind, rain, etc.) won't effect the hair. He needs to get his rear end down on the field to fire up, try to inspire, get on guys not doing their job or just coach that defense. Not keep himself shut up in the booth distancing himself from the team.

Well I guess it would fit your agenda in spite of it having any type of facts. Riley has specifically said he made the decision to fire Banker and part of it was timing because Diaco became available.
We have been playing (as the primary set) a 4-3 since the second half of the Oregon game !
