I don't believe you are going to find them
When we changed board formats, I don't believe they were carried over to the new board.
I only recall one off hand.
No attacks on players, coaches, or other posters.
Do they have rules on here? Dang! Wrassler better cool his jets!can someone direct me to where I can find the oft mention rules. Not the TOS, but the code of conduct. Thanks.

xyzbob, sorry Bob, I'm not your guy. I have little time for board rules, the self-appointed board police, and the paranoid posters who put certain people on "ignore". Anybody here is most welcome to call me anything they like, and I just might return the favor if there are no rules in place. Hope you are well, and I'll see you at the Rose Bowl.Well, if the mods don’t have a copy any more, I guess the only rules are the crappy legalese aka TOS. Welcome to our own wild Wild West where who know and where you align will dictate the rules unevenly applied to you.
I would like to suggest that perhaps one or two of our middle of the road, non controversial members create something. Maybe we can all agree on something and avoid future mishaps. Probably not. But still think a code of conduct that’s clear and defined would help tremendously.
I would volunteer, but various guys here wouldn’t agree w me about capitalization or punctuation, let alone content. And the grammar police would crucify me.
- Hey NoChores - you are pretty well respected, neutral and old enough to be retired, wise and full of free time. What do you think?
FloridAlum's a nice guy, so if you did something that got him to pull the trigger, you must have done something bad. That's a good enough rule for me.
I liked the No Chores suggestion, but realized it was DOA upon further reflection - creating rules is definitely a chore and even more so for those of us who spend our professional lives dealing with rules and constantly being asked by rules committees to provide input.
What, has common sense gone out of style? One rule: Don't be a miserable prick. It's not that hard.
Love it! Scrappy fella!xyzbob, sorry Bob, I'm not your guy. I have little time for board rules, the self-appointed board police, and the paranoid posters who put certain people on "ignore". Terrific post, Bobbo. Can't take issue with anything you're saying here. Of course, I'm oversimplifying it to say, "Just don't be a miserable prick", but all I'm really pointing toward is that this board is chock full of highly intelligent, well educated folks - not the sort who'd need to be told not to physically threaten anyone, etc. Most of our posters have the good sense not to get carried away with overly distasteful remarks, though no one ever died from a distasteful remark. Truth be told, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to codify the ground rules in some way, shape or form, but getting some sort of consensus on it . . . THAT would be quite the trick. And just to clarify about myself, I have no bone to pick with any of our regulars; never have. You won't find a single contentious exchange between me and anyone else, and you likely never will. Don't have anyone on ignore; if I don't want to read someone's posts, I simply skip them. I like to think I'm respectful of others' opinions, whether I agree with them or not. Doesn't make me a particularly interesting poster; I'll give you that.Seriously? I think we live in the most diverse culture in the world. At the same time, one that touts freedom of expression, religion, etc. At the same time, one that is as divided as ever in my lifetime: left and right, men and women, Cubs and Sox, etc.
The backbone of this country is the notion that we can agree to disagree on the definition of a miserable prick. The current environment does not agree yet the same notion of the right to define it as we believe exists.
I’m not sure if you are a fan of me or not. But would still wager we would have different definitions. Add gcg, 320, Willy, Corbi, FA, NJ aka phile and so on. All these folks have their place here, none better than another. But a code of conduct would help things from degenerating into threats of physical violence, maybe speak to language, perhaps set limits concerning use of race, sexual orientation, family.
Not sure if you were around last night or have witnessed any of the battles before deletion, but the rules are loose. Personally, it’s a message board, I hold my own and make it difficult to be sanctioned without sanctioning others. But for some, a little more decorum would enhance the experience.
As an NU thing, I feel we could do something uncommon to these Boards - create a code of conduct, discussed, voted and abided. When FA deletes a thread, gives a time out - it’s expected because our accepted rules define it.
Notice the Rock has been dead this weekend? The views are here and the b-ball board. In fact, I think the rant draws more traffic. If Lou and FA want continued or more resources from yahoo, then improving the experience has value. They can’t kick out one side - the conflict drives a ton of the traffic. Eliminate me, 320, wicker, puke - this place goes the way of the dodo bird. We just don’t have enough athletically interested alum to have multiple spots, to tailor to specific audiences within our community.
So we need some cooperation between our various perspectives. I think a neutral code of conduct may help. I would do it, but it would be a waste of time. We need broad acceptance for value. I’m like Trump in that there are plenty that won’t agree with me on pure principle.
So....
He certainly would be. Alaskawildkat is a great guy, an excellent lawyer, and the most pleasant person you could ever hope to meet. He's never been called a bad name, to my knowledge, except by a very select few who object to his incessant lobbying for a west coast bowl game.Funny thing, you would be another perfect choice.
Another perfect choice would be AtlantaCat. Writing these rules requires a sense of humor. He is without question the sharpest wit in these here parts. He certainly would be. We have a code of conduct. It's try not be be an *******. Just try, that's all, you don't even have to succeed, even if you just get sort of close. That's all we ask. It's a low bar.Seriously? Aren't you on double secret probation???can someone direct me to where I can find the oft mention rules. Not the TOS, but the code of conduct. Thanks.
Funny true story from last night. I got on the plane late, had back row first class and my seat is taken. I immediately recognize the tat. Um, Mr. Tyson, I believe you are in my seat. Guy that I guess was his manager asked if I would take the open seat in the row ahead. Mike chirps and says please. Guessing they didn’t have two together when they booked.
I wanted to say I would arm wrestle him for it but I also don’t think he is all there, maybe never was. So I smile and say of course. Even crack a joke that I wasn’t planning to fight him for it. Mike was humble, quiet and seemingly quite gracious. Thanked me a couple more times later.
Take away, seems like a pretty nice guy and publicly quiet guy that needs more assistance (struggled with his coat) than he should at his age (got me thinking about Ali) and that faded face tattoo that seemed ridiculous at the time was actually just ahead of his time. And the voice is exactly as advertised.
Comedian Jim Jefferies was making fun of the 10 Commandments, like 'do you really need to be told not to do these things?' And he said you could replace them all with "try not to be a c**t"What, has common sense gone out of style? One rule: Don't be a miserable prick. It's not that hard.

It's not so much what you say, as how you say it.
That's my understanding of the code of contact. And also no personal attacks.

For what it is worth here are the rules on another forum where I have modded. I don't know whether the mods here wish to have rules, but if they do (and the old ones indeed no longer exist) perhaps these can serve as a starting point for discussion. I am not a fan of #6 personally, and I am sure that others will have ones they wish to exclude as well. And perhaps people would want to add the one I previously posted about not flaming players and coaches, which was in the original rules, but it not in these, or wish to add others as well (though this list is otherwise fairly comprehensive).
- Adult Content: Pornographic images and video content are prohibited on all forums. Anyone posting this will have their account privileges revoked. This includes links to porn sites and using any pornographic content as a personal avatar, etc.
Whether it is really good should be voted on by all posters after much review. To paraphrase Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, we will know really good porn when we see it.What if it's really good porn?
When nearly everyone recognizes that someone is being an *******, that would be called agreement.True, but nobody around here would agree on the definition of *******. I know gcg, Corbi, puke and I certainly won’t.

I would agree with ECat, that it is not what you say, but how you say it (and how many times).
Do you have a job?Two problems - many people don't like to involved or speak up, secondly, that also threatens the value of the minority.
As a country, we are proud of protecting all people equally. Sex, race, religion. Here, I could foresee a bunch of people ganging up on me, or Puke, or Willy - and declaring us ******** worthy of banishment. In fact, there was a thread on the Rock in that very vein targeting me.
I think that a clear rule that can be easily understood and cuts both ways would be fair. If Lou wants to become the Purple Homer page and a code is established, fine. Anyone that lands here will know exactly what it is. Might impact the visit numbers, but whatever. I think the intent is a place where folks can talk about NU football and basketball - that's it. And so more people visit and read than post. And some built the ignore function to make it easier to immediate individuals that one cannot tolerate - closed minded, but great.
And we have the occasional battle royales - which I find interesting and entertaining too. But they tend to fall outside the original intent (see above). If the interest to avoid those instances were important, then a fairly written and evenly applied code of conduct might be a way to accomplish it. To the disappointment of some, Lou and FA haven't elected to play favorites, run off members at the demand of other, more well liked members and most folks are ok with it.
Notice the lack of response by FA or Lou about the prior rules or interest in establishing new rules. Maybe they are content with the status quo. Maybe they want the retain the trump card of booting someone if they simply so feel like it. Who knows. After Saturday night and yet another battle, and another member of two calling for banishment or suspension or just complaining about various posts, I got to thinking about how to fairly raise our game. I don't expect any Code of Conduct to ever come to fruition and will sit back and wait for the next round of entertainment I guess.
Unfortunately the personal attacks are fast and furious around here
