According to the inter web, Youngstown State is only paying him $150 K a year while he continues to receive his buyout money from Nebraska through 2018. Would cost us nothing to buy him out at Youngstown, he's recruited at a high level in the B1G and averaged 9 wins a year. I would definitely have him on my short list if I was JH.

I think a guy like him would be a notch above Schiano. The only thing with him is he's a midwest guy, not sure how he would fit in around these parts.

Coaching wise...I would love Pellini. Problem is that he was notorious for having a hardtime with the media.....NEBRASKA media. He would clash bigtime with the media here and it wouldn't be pretty at all. As sad as it is to say, we need someone that has some media savy just to survive out here.

If he wins, the media will have to at least have some sort of detente with him. Who was more acerbic with the media than Bill Parcells? He survived fine. To quote John Madden, "Winning is the best deodorant."

If there is a list of 5 or so candidates you definitely put him on the list and offer him an initial interview.

He is only collecting checks from Nebraska as long at he isn't coaching in Div 1, right? If he took a Div 1 job he'd lose it, just like GS is doing right now.

I could be dreaming this up.

I know it might not make sense, but Pelini would have far fewer problems with the NY-NJ media than Nebraska media. First, his prickliness would play better here. NY-NJ fans loved guys like Parcells and Rex Ryan, for example. Second, in Nebraska, NU football is everything (and I mean everything) so all of the media focus is on that program and pretty much nothing else. The NY-NJ media cares about RU football far far less than they care about Huskers football in Nebraska. Also, I think Pelini would be a much better recruiter at a school like RU, especially with his strong Ohio ties. Nebraska long ago lost its shine to kids outside the area and they cannot engage in the famous in-state walk on recruiting that was so successful for Tom Osborne. You could do far worse than Bo Pelini as the next coach.

If people want a guy that has a winning resume, Bo should be near or at the top of the list. The fact that he's got serious experience in the Big Ten is a huge plus for me.

Yes, he's had trouble with the media and has bashed fans before. If fans seriously want a winning coach with experience, he might be the best available. I'd take him with his baggage in a heartbeat. He may be a mid-west guy but I think good coaches can recruit anywhere. I mean he won his Big Ten division like 4 or 5 times right? I'd imagine that would catch a recruit's attention.

But, but guys.......He's not Schiano. You know, the only other coach ever, apparently.

I'd be more than happy to have Bo Pelini at the helm of this ship. I could care less about his media problems. If he puts a winning product on the field, I couldn't give a flying fudge

If we are going for retreads, he is by far the best candidate. And any baggage he has is of the really minor PR variety. He really has a clean record otherwise.
