Bo Pelini took over a 5-7 Husker team and in 2 seasons had them 1 second from a conf championship, and would go on to two more conf championship games. He also took over a 7-5 YSU team and in 2 seasons has them playing for a NC.

Mike Riley took over a 9-4 husker team and in two seasons has won the chicken nuggets bowl.

Bottom line? Pelini plays for championships, Riley never has. Those are the facts.

I will also take into account the players that each inherited. MR inherited squat and had so much damage control it was pathetic. How many coaches do you know that after they get fired go on a rant like Bo did to further down spiral a team. I'll take MR anyday for Bo. BTW, get back to me after this Saturday & LOI day.

Look at his posting history, sparky. Looks like he used to be a premium member, but came back just to post this hit and run. So, instead of responding to this troll just ignore him. Sounds just like another troll that I haven't seen around in a while. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

I have a better idea. If he hates the current regime and wants to do nothing but toll I can make it easier for him not to return.

Bo is right where he belongs now. Maybe someday he'll resurface as a Power 5 DC, but he has a lot of re-branding to do first.
Dude is actually a good football mind. He would do well back in the pros. It takes a special kind of idiots to respect a college coach who trashes the program and recruits with the effort of a slug.

Pelini has the same number of championships at NU as Riley. Zero. But yet, you're happier with the guy who's had 3 times more opportunities to try to get one.... Weird.

Wow-playing for an FCS National Championship! What a thing to aspire to! Why are we fiddling around with all of this FBS nonsense? We could have just dropped down to FCS, kept Bo Pelini, and then we could have been having the fun playing for the FCS National Championship instead of letting Youngstown State have all the fun.

Take your chicken nuggets out of here and do some research.

Riley will do OK, even if it is only stocking the cupboard for the next guy. Mark Pelini was not emotionally equipped to handle the job and did not represent the university and state honorably. His record compared to Riley's is therefore irrelevant.

You're post is littered with facts but will fall on deaf ears (or worse) in these parts. 2-4 years from now it's likely people will agree with you (to a degree) once Riley is gone, but they'll still find ways to justify to themselves the firing of Bo (similar to Solich...). The more things change the more they stay the same and irrational human behavior to justify is no exception.

Pelini was fired for his irrational human behavior, nothing more, nothing less. The vast majority here acknowledge his strengths, but his weakness, lack of control, was his undoing. He's an average coach who spiraled out of control and affected severely his last three seasons as lopsided losses against top flight competition was his trademark.

In the latest round of the coaching carousel, no one wanted Bo as a head coach, and after 2017, no one in Div 1 will request his services, again. Deal with it.

Oh, his recruiting was nothing to get excited about either.

I absolutely love that there are people out there that believe Bo was a victim. Love it! They fume about it every day. Makes me smile.

aPer the idiot who started this thread, Bo was and always will be a bully who infested venom into the minds of 18-20 year old kids who thought it was us versus the world. I was a BOLIEVER for about 4 years then it became obvious that he had no buzznesss as our coach. hcmr, WILL NOT DO THAT, move on

Yep you littered that with facts. Now lets look at some other facts. How many years did his team finish the season ranked higher than what they started the season in the AP? How many years did he finish with less than 4 losses?
