Get ready for a return of last year's favorite buzzword from the UK hating media...

I'll bet Kleenex stock rose 10 points today.

Yep, another year of jealous hate about to unfold.

I think the blueprint will need to be revised as the season goes along...right now it's pretty evident it's beat
us on the glass, pack a tight match up zone and hope we have a horrible night from the perimeter.

I don't think there's a team who would dare play us straight up man...way too many scorers who can
really handle the ball and get to the rim.

Those guards sure are in control when they are on the court. A thing of beauty...-Mic

we couldn't beat dook on the glass (even), dook tried the zone--our guards split it, we only shot 3 of 10 from 3pt, but we win by 11.

I think I saw a team last night that could give UK trouble, and it isn't Duke or Kansas. It's Michigan State. If Deyonta Davis keeps developing, and they put him out there on the floor with Costello and Valentine, then that's a big, physical team that also has talent on the perimeter.

And UNC has big, athletic frontcourt players and wings.

Those 2 represent the type of teams that are going to give me pause- big frontcourts, with good enough perimeter defense (something Duke completely lacked) to at least slow down UK's backcourt.

But hey, it's always a good thing when people trying to figure out how to beat you is a NATIONAL story. If that happens again this year, then we're in for a very, very fun season.

They tried to keep up with our guards man-to-man and had no answer for the explosiveness...we used their own players as screen to the rim a couple times. [laughing]

I expect we'll see some 1-3-1 but we should be able to go right over top of it.

A big physical team that plays great defense and makes us win a street brawl. We are less equipped to win that type of game now than we usually are. Otherwise, like MJ said, big, talented front courts that have perimeter players that aren't pushovers on defense.

Duke also had 16 turnovers, and our ball pressure caused most of them. If we meet a team that rebounds, contains our guards and doesn't turn it over, then we'll may be in for a long night.

With all that said, there's only a handful of teams with the personnel to make a run at that type of blue print, and we may not see one until the final weekend, if at all.

I agree. The good news is we probably won't play either of those teams until possibly the elite eight or FF if everybody makes it there. This is the position dUKe has been in with their last 2 national championship teams. There were a few teams they didn't match up with at all and would have probably struggled against but they were knocked off before they had to face them. It seems like when we've been in that situation the selection committee makes sure those teams are in our path to a championship.

I agree. Big, physical teams will be a problem. UK is more of a finesse team right now, with the exception of Briscoe and Matthews. If Poythress and Humphries toughen up and become beastly interior defenders, UK will excel.

Have a team like Kentucky's team from last year.

Actually, there are some teams in the SEC -- Texas A&M comes to mind, and maybe Vandy -- with a couple strong interior players who will exploit what Plumlee and Jefferson exploited unless Skal and Lee get their defensive footwork in order. Humphries may prove to be very valuable. He looked like the best defensive front court player on the team. Maybe Wynyard will get minutes after all.
Wynyard should be able to get some minutes if he's showing he can put a body on people in practice.
