just trying to generate some discussions

I'm a huge college basketball fan, and there's a ton of talk about blue bloods. You have the original blue bloods, unc, ucla, uk, Kansas, Duke, Indiana, and there's talk of new bloods, uconn, nova.

So here's my question. Who would you all say are the blue bloods of North Carolina High School football? Original, and new bloods?

Original, I always think, Shelby, reidsville, maiden, Murphy, robinsville, Clinton

New, Tarboro, Wallace, East surry, havelock

I know the teams I have listed under the new have always had good teams, but the last 20 years, I feel they have really kicked up a notch

Pisgah's first football season was '66. Do you know if your 434 number includes Canton High from 1960-1965?
Thanks!

I have no idea….it’s a poster I bought from AFLOAT POSTERS . Com….that’s at the top of these boards. Click on that and scroll through and you will see it hanging on the wall over a desk. It has each teams helmets that are listed with wins and losses. It looks neat…so I bought it…but again… I have no idea how accurate it is.

For the record……Pisgah is a blue blood in my book.
I remember when I was a kid…everybody around here knew of Pisgah.

I saw them play at Newton….waaaay back…early ‘70’s….great ball game…Pisgah was one hell of a team!….and still is.

Blue blood….for sure!😉

I remember in the early 1970s Mount Airy played Tuscola and North Surry played Pisgah in the state playoffs. Pisgah and Tuscola both won. It was the coldest football game in Waynesville I have ever been to. Sheets of ice on the field and I felt like I was covered in a sheet of ice. WE had coats on and quilts to rape up in and still froze. LOL I am thinking MA & NS were not in the same conference or 2 teams made the playoffs that year.

Some of the above-mentioned schools aren't blue bloods.

I’m dying to ask…who?😂….but no need to have an argument this late in the day!😂…you prolly in the bed anyway. 😂

There was only one team on that top 30 list that surprised me. Imma high school football NUT…and have followed….I thought….everybody!

But there is one on there that shocked me and apparently… nobody talks about them…at least from my perspective.

Betcha can’t guess who it is?

Ok…I tell it…..Northern Durham. How in the world?…do I not know anything about that football program

My gosh!!! …they have to be good to be on that list.

Right?

I'll tell you who i think are blue bloods. Shelby, Reidsville, Tarboro, Murphy, Robisonville, Shelby Crest, Richmond County, Charlotte Catholic. Mount airy

I think its some that fell off the list and some that are close to being blue bloods. Of course its some that you could probably add. I think Butler and Mallard creek could be added with more years down the road.

I would disagree with Pisgah being a blue blood. They haven't won a state title since 1976.

Was driving through Canton Saturday heading to Bryson city, and I pointed in the direction of Pisgah stadium and told the wife, Isaw two amazing ball games in that stadium (she didnt care at all)... then proceeded to remember the worst bronchitis I have ever had... Left the 94 losing effort heading back down the mountain, I became sick while at the game, and the longer we drove the worst I got.... Never have had that kind of congestion in my lungs before or since... ha ha

The the 2006 game the best atmosphere of any game Ive ever attended

The end....

PS: Why didn't someone tell me before Saturday about Dillsboro, what a cool little 5 block town, ate at Boots Steakhouse and it was perhaps the best steak my wife and I have ever had
The end part 2

Dillsboro is cool as hell. My wife and I did an anniversary there….had tickets on the dinner train…I won them in a raffle.

Formal as all get out….we blended in…I think. 😂😂😂…pastel blue polyester suit was money!😂

The liver pate’ was off the chain good. 😂

507 wins. That is how. Didn't see Elkin listed
That’s because I never mentioned Elkin because I don’t consider them blue blood. Take a look in MA’s hardware case, that’s what counts. they are a very good team for the county but not statewide. Total wins only shows how weak your schedule is compared to your school.

Mount airy has won one championship since 1948.

And I’m not sure if the ones they won before then if the east champion played the west champion.
Have won 7 total. A few in late 60s. Ma played 3A alot of years in a time you had to win conf just to make the playoffs and always had deep runs.
