Blue Bloods Ranked

Indiana isn't a blue blood to me anymore but this guys says UNC is very close to us in the all time race which I don't agree with.

We blow UNC out in wins, conference titles, win percentage, and have a pretty comfortable lead in tournament appearances with also an 8-6 championship advantage. He says if Kansas passes us in wins, UNC is #1... UNC only leads us in 1 stat really and that's final 4's. I don't count tournament win percentage as really a significant stat because Kentucky has played way more games than all the blue bloods with 184.

Quite the arbitrary criteria he uses to make that claim. School C passes school A in all time wins. Therefore, school B leapfrogs school A as best all time. Ridiculous really.

A lot of people and organizations have done these rankings through the years.

This guy’s is easily the worst. I never heard of him. I suspect he’s some college freshman writing random stuff for this site for free, so I'm not going to be too critical. But if he turned this in as a first semester journalism paper on critical analysis, it'd be a C-minus. The teacher would write in the margins: "Rule one: Don't take on a topic that clearly exceeds your knowledge and understanding."

I’ll stick with the much, much more intelligent and rigorously researched rankings by Sporting News and ESPN in recent years that had Kentucky way ahead of all rivals.

It what universe is Villanova and UConn knocking on the blue blood door? They’re peewee compared to the true blue bloods
Exactly. UConn never even made a Final Four until 1999. Talk about a lucky program that’s capitalized with a title damn near everytime they’ve made a FF. They’ve been to a total of five FFs, winning four of those.

Plus, they’ve been cheating for years. Amazingly enough, they’ve been able to keep all those FFs and titles. That’s absurd IMO.

The only way UK loses their throne is if UCLA wins another title soon. Kansas and UNCheats still have a ton of ground to make up on us.

Not disagreeing with you, but UConn does have more titles than KU. Nova has the same amount.

Once again, not saying they are blue bloods, but I don’t think it’s laughable to think they are just a notch below. What other non-bluebloods are better?

Yeah that’s kind of an odd ranking system. I don’t really care if we slip to second in his system lol.

If the NCAA wasn’t corrupt Kansas would be losing quite a few wins, as would UNC and Duke.

There’s a reason no one gives a **** about UCLA’s titles and win streaks.

The guy made a mistake in his own metric it looks like. Gave UNC an extra gold trophy, they should be 4 points behind UK, not 1.

I dont know Cow, I kind of like it. It alwasy evolving because its alwasy taking into account all of the categories and constantly updating them. UNC wouldnt move up just because someone else did something good . . . . they'd move up because their new overall updated overall ranking in each category got better than ours (for the moment until the new batch of updates came in after the tournament etc.)

Its basically the world golf ranking system applied to blue bloods.

Actually the guy makes a good point but everyone missed it so far. The point is this, if you have an agenda, you can cherry pick stats and prove any damn thing you want to. This is the same crap the Ky program haters, aka the CLOD do to trash out coach and program.

KY is the greatest college basketball program of all time. We have one of the best, if not the best in the business at the helm. Any one tries to tell you different, they are cherry picking numbers to blow smoke up your ***.

We are objectively first place but this ranking system is arbitrary and skewed to UK.

Should this be part of what is considered? If so, is it gold, silver, or bronze?

The top ten schools with the most consensus first-team All-Americans are listed below, ranked by total number of selections. For a complete list, please see the NCAA records.

It's National Championships and sustained excellence... that's it. That's Royalty... that's BlueBlood. UCLA, UK, and UNC... No other schools can legitimately be considered. IMO, the only reason that KU is continually included in the discussion is that BlueBlood status at UNC and UK was established by two KU alums.

Well... and the forethought to hire the inventor of the game as your first coach.
