They look very different. Maybe players that fit well into one have trouble with the other?

A lot more attention to defense so far

Bluder had CC, which obviously meant an explosive offense. But she also was one of the worst on ball defenders.

BTW: One of the first things Jan said when she took over is that she'd like to use some full-court pressure. I haven't seen it yet, but I do think it would be a great idea. In fact, it would have been a great idea to use against ISU and their lumbering post player. Even a soft press shortens the shot clock and often induces teams to speed up their halfcourt offense, creating some problems for them, such as less time to feed the post.
Anyway, Lisa was a great coach, especially in how she handled the tricky case of Caitlin Clark. Most, like at least 98.3 percent of coaches would have ruined CC. They'd have told her NO MORE LOGO THREES. NO behind-the-back or no-look passes. They'd have put her in a straight jacket, and CC would have been just another player, a good one, but nothing all that special. Coaching a generational super star is more difficult than coaching a bunch of mediocre players.
Lisa was a great coach. Jan is on her way. No two coaches are the same. Be glad Iowa had Lisa and has Jan.
While we are only part way into season two, Defensively over the time frame you listed, Lisa teams averaged 69 ppg, Jan currently at 61 ppg.
Did she get hacked?
Haven't seen a Ferrari in Iowa City for a long time. The truth is though, she can just buy one with one month's pay.
Probably. I admittedly had to double check that it was her actual account when I first saw it.
Jan's first year was materially worse in terms of turnovers than all of the CC teams. Iowa was 14th (bottom 5) in conference play with a 19.3% turnover rate. Anxious to see if Iowa can be better this year. A perimeter cast that includes Kylie, Stremlow, McCabe & Deal does not inspire a lot of ball security confidence.
I'm also not sure Jans teams have less TO's by percentage. You have to remember they probably have way less posessions with the ball then the Clark teams.
Both are/were very good coaches. Wanted to add, Jan is a very good recruiter.
Both are good coaches and it’s not fair to compare. Each is dealing with different players and team make up. I just know Lisa Bluder is on my Mt Rushmore of coaches along with Bud Grant, Gregg Popovich, and Tom Kelly.
They work with the players they have to try to keep the best players on the floor. Ava and Hannah are #1 and #2 on the team this year. Having them both on the floor is probably better than keeping one of them off, but it means the offensive style needs to be different. I'm hopeful that with McKenna coming and taking the 4 position, we'll see an offense with more perimeter spacing again next year.
In her first 29 years as a D1 head coach she made 2 Sweet 16s.
We all can have a different opinion on the qualities of a great coach. Many base their opinions on the number of super bowls or NCAA titles, etc. won and that’s fine if that’s how you judge. I’ve witnessed way too many great coaches unappreciated because they never won the big one. Sorry but that’s my opinion and it’s not changing.

Just because the most iconic women’s basketball player in the nation played for Bluder… why would the teams not look the same?

We were lacking that in Year 1 of Jan, and now we have Chit Chat, but our 3 pt shooting isn't consistent enough yet.
Having that outside range is what made their inside game so dangerous in the latter Bluder years, even before CC.
We can recruit all the best posts, but teams can camp and are quick enough to close out when needed if Iowa is not capable of getting good looks from 3 and making teams pay.

You need to remember that Lisa had the best BB player in America playing first get during her last 4 years as a coach! #22 covered up a multitude of sins!
there is no way Lisa!a teams and Jan’s team can be compared. No fairly, anyway.

In 2001, Bluder's first season, if not for the Carver being unavailable due to the wrestling championships, 4 seed Iowa would have hosted the first two rounds and more than likely beaten Utah, the 5 seed in the region, which in turn hosted.
