I see both sides of the coin. We've been fortunate in previous years with how few day games we had to play at home. Only one last year and it was in November. But I also think people being frustrated in general about THIS MANY early starts is warranted. We will have played three consecutive home games in September, all in the middle of the day in the scorching heat, and then after Kentucky we have an eight week stretch with only one home game. The fact that we couldn't catch a break this year and just get one night game during the hottest part of the season totally sucks. And these three games aren't just meaningless games, one is the home opener against an in-state FBS team, one is our first home game against a Big 12 team in 20 years, and the other is a conference game.
To me the biggest issue is how the schedule was designed in general. Whoever in Birmingham laid this thing out for us did a really poor job of spacing. If you just switch the Kentucky game with one of the three road games we play in October then you don't have such a front-loaded and back-loaded schedule.
