Awesome list!!! Now do one for Texas under Strong, Florida under Muschamp, USC under Kiffin, Nebraska under Callahan, etc.
Talent means jack sh*t when coupled with sh*t coaching.

Hopefully these wholesale changes don’t take too much longer and we will soon get back to beating directional schools.

At least we are finally moving past “pelini’s fault” and are now on to Eichorst’s fault for not AD ing like Alvarez.

Im all for giving riley 5 years then deciding how the state of the program is.
since Dr.Tom left:

solich runs the ball and becomes one dimensional (5 years)
we turn pass happy with callahan (3 years)
get bo and try to throw the ball, then decide to go back to the run (6 years)
then we get riley and want to go pass happy again (2 1/2 years)

I think riley also got the team in the worse shape of all the above.
(I never seen the Huskers so unorganized as the point when bo left)

out of all listed above (excluding Dr Tom) I think riley has the best head coaching skills all around.
and I think with the line getting more experience and some receivers with a lil better hands the offense can produce well in the future, seeing we now have qb's to fit a passing offense. and diaco has just started on defense.

Im ok with taking some lumps if we are building towards the future.
I have no problem with real Nebraska fans not being happy. Im just wondering if a lot of crying on here is from other teams fans posing.

I want to give riley a decent shot at this passing thing and I think 5 years is fair.
if at that point the future looks bleak, Im ok with going back to the run with frost or someone like him.

If in 5 years riley has built a decent team, and wants to retire, then we could hire a coach who can run a offense like him, or have disco become head coach and have a oc who can use the players riley has.

We don't have the population base a ohio state or michigan has, or as deep as pockets.
so we have to play this thing smart.
this flip flopping thing will kill us over time.

Nice hard work by the OP but there is a lot of flaws in this logic and seem to be cherry picking.

A) Some guys, like Eric Lee and Farmer, committed early in the process. So strictly using the Rivals database really does not sure all of their commits. Farmer for one was a very hot prospect at the end of his SR year in HS. He'd have had a ton more offers but he commited to NU before his SR year. Eric Lee was a 4 star commit that committed his JR year.

B) Guys like Kalu, Jones, Gifford, DPE & even Webber are very talented but weren't highly recruited. Kalu & Jones will play in the league. I think Gifford & DPE have very good shots to play in the league too. Webber will at least get invited to camps.

C) Do this with Wiskys recruits too. See how many great offers their kids had. Then tell me exactly why they are top 10 team?

Appreciate the hard work but this is a lot of smoke and mirrors to try to justify the failures of this staff.

It's great to keep things in perspective and perhaps we as fans are a little blinded, but I'll offered up a few counterpoints:

#1 - It's a little dishonest to say we didn't recruit talent. For example, look at a few of the starters on defense:

Marcus Newby - .8941 composite ranking (4 stars) - offers from Oklahoma, Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia

Dedrick Young - .8775 composite ranking (high 3 stars) - offers from Washington, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona Sate - early enrollee and starter since he stepped on campus

Carlos Davis - .8890 composite ranking (high 3 stars) - offers from Missouri, Kansas, Arizona State

Eric Lee - .9414 composite ranking (4 stars) - offers from Colorado, Arizona State, Oregon State

Lamar Jackson - .9582 composite ranking (4 stars) - offers from Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, among many others

Aaron Williams - .8609 composite ranking (3 stars) - offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Washington State

I will grant that with the exception of maybe Lamar Jackson, these are regional recruits (as opposed to guys who get national attention), but generally speaking these are guys that were offered by the schools in their area. Isn't this about the level we expect to recruit at Nebraska - high three star and four star guys?

#2 - Are there any examples of guys that have been "coached up" to be an all conference type performer or who have out performed the expectations attached to their recruiting profile? Stanley Morgan comes to mind (although his inconsistency is maddening). Chris Jones maybe? Who else? I know it's hard to measure the impact of position coaches, but I'm really struggling to find examples where I believe our coaching has made a difference. In fact, I'm inclined to say there are more guys who have under performed according to how the recruiting services have ranked them.

#3 - We lost to Northern Illinois at home. I know the message boards are for dissecting every possible thing related to Nebraska football, but how much mental gymnastics do we have to do to get over this fact? If you want to put together a case that we don't have a lot of talent on the roster that's fine, but I firmly believe we have out recruited the likes of Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa, and yes Northern Illinois. We should consistently beat these teams and we simply don't do it enough.

Does anyone have similar numbers for how Wisconsin’s classes and results (championships, winning seasons, and losses to teams such as NIU) line up, compared to NU’s?

Can anyone confirm if Wisconsin has changed offensive and defensive philosophies in the last three years?

Last 3 years? Not that I'm aware of. They have a first year DC who seems to be doing alright. What current starters on offense do you feel is a bad fit for Riley/Langsdorf system?
