So worse than this year? LMFAO, we are loaded. We do need another big, but this squad ain't going out in any SS.

Loaded??:scream: sorry had to laugh. Hoping for Blackshear so we have an inside presence. If not we will still be one of the best in conference.[/QUOTE]

Brooks is going to surprise a lot of people. Whitney is a stud, Juzang looks like a kid that can knock down big shots, Maxey will be deadly with a much improved Hagans. Quickly and EJ should make huge jumps and Nick could. He's only played BB for 6 years after his growth spurt so there is still hope. Sestina looks like a workhorse that will give max effort at all times like RT did which is always a plus. I hope we do add another big even if it's reclass, but I haven't given up on Blackshear yet because, well, it's TN.

Would be a ****** ending to recruiting to lose out on Mcdaniels and Blackshear after positive talk about them coming here. The last couple of seasons Cal hasn't been able to get the player we need to take us over the top.Frustrating.
I totally agree with you. If we don’t start pulling in those players that push us over the top then we’re going to have to be extremely lucky in regards to winning a national title.

Okay, but my point is that you're speculating about the idea of the visit being cut short and the Blackshears suddenly taking offense to this new development that Cal was heading out for the draft.

They schedule the draft pretty well in advance, ya know.

That's just so, so, so far from the simplest explanation. It's panic talk. There is a 0.000000% chance that they didn't know what Cal was doing ahead of time.

If you're saying that they knew ahead of time, but were a little bit frustrated that Cal didn't schedule more time with them, then that makes only slightly more sense, because who would begrudge a coach to support his kids at the draft? Is there any obvious deadline that would prevent them from scheduling after Cal returned? Not that I'm aware.

There's this tremendous impulse when something goes wrong to blame someone just so that the blame has somewhere to rest. It's not a tremendously productive impulse, and it leads a lot of people down a lot of wrong logical paths.
So we're on a message board right? We are not privy to the facts of the Blackshear's visit right?

We have limited information right?

So what exactly happens on a message board?

All we can do is speculate right now and all we have are minimal facts and perception.

Yep, you can speculate an infinite numbers of things about the world, and 99.99999999% of them are wrong, including the idea that Cal would surprise any recruit's family mid-visit by abruptly leaving for an event that has been scheduled for a year.

This was from the Tennessee site from a mod this morning in the thread titled “Early Saturday Rumors”

Nothing at all concrete here but more and more rumors seem to suggest that Tennessee is turning into the favorite for Blackshear.

I’m stopping WELL SHORT of claiming it’s a done deal but I know everyone is hungry for speculation.

No primary sources here, just hearing increasing buzz that KY is fading and that Tennessee is trending up.

I can say for sure as of late last night that Tennessee had not been told anything definitive from Blackshear but I think they were starting to feel more positive that they had weathered the Kentucky visit.

Would guess we hear something maybe as early as tomorrow. Certainly in the next couple of days I would think.

Trending? What do we have a UK and Tennessee button that he is hitting 2-1 in Tennessee’s favor?

Does the loser get slapped in the face with a pie?

100% agree
i have no doubt all parties involved knew what the deal was and were fine with it
i am also sure all the really important things that go on with an OV were hit on (how the recruit fits, facilities, ect..)

i do think the family wanted to get their visit to UK in because they are wanting to end this recruitment

In high school they are studs but freshman have to learn the system and how to play hard every second they are in the game. Maybe by late January or February they will be comfortable but that’s a lot of pressure to put on these guys from day one. Richards will be a junior and he still hasn’t caught on yet so my hope is EJ makes that big jump from freshman to sophomore.

If he wants to spend his last year playing for a choke artist and put up similar numbers as he did at VT which clearly didn’t have much impact on his NBA status, then all you can do is laugh, shake your head, and get excited about the current roster we have coming in this year

The post I shared paired with the SBNation article from this afternoon leads me to pretty much concede he’s going to UT.

Blackshear is clearly riding a wave of emotions and flip flopping back and forth between two schools with each hour. Probably writing it a list of pros and cons and flipping coins. Having his dad tell Evan Daniels, Corey Evans, and Jake Weinergarden each time the wind changes direction.

If he announces between 10am and noon tomorrow it’ll be UK. Between noon and 2pm it’ll be Tennessee.

It was from their basketball mod, so I figured it was pretty credible.

i am not sure how you got that it was credible
the mod clearly states that it is just rumor with no concrete facts
he is just regurgitating what others are saying, non of which have stated they have any inside info

i have no idea where he will go, but so far not one so called insider has posted anything they have said has any concrete facts

Even without KB we have the best front court in the SEC . Only LSU and maybe AU could contend with us for that. But lets just get KB and not worry about it [winking]

I like guys with some dog in them. The type that sees our guys and says “I’m gonna come in, outwork and dominate them.” If that’s Blackshear then I hope he comes. If his second thoughts are because of minutes or numbers then I hope he finds some place else. Jorts his last year, SGA, Herro, & Travis all came with something to prove and played their butts off. That’s what I like to see.

Precisely. And if it's exactly at noon, my understanding is Florida will be the pick.

If Blackshear picks UT, how will all their fans explain making claims that he was going to Kentucky because of money? Did he suddenly have feelings of guilt and decided to go the virtuous route?

Obviously I was really hoping he would come to UK but I'm at the point of not caring we would be much better with him but we will be fine without him. It just doesn't make sense for him to go to UT. He would have been better just going overseas for as much exposure he will get at UT

Does anyone else think most of the “perceived” rumors about Tennessee, may actually be about Florida all along? Possibly misinterpreted by the so-called sources? I mean, UT? Lol, that has to be it!

That's what doesn't make sense. If you are going to go to UT you might as well just go to the G-League or play in Europe or China or something. He isn't gaining anything by returning to college that he could gain by making some money while he works towards the NBA.

At UK he comes in and goes against Sestina, NR, and EJ whearas at UT he's going against Fulkerson, Nkamhoua, Burns and Pember aka a bunch of stiffs. Barnes has a good history and is a great coach, but UT can't give him what he gets here other than maybe 5-6 minutes more a game.

Well, I know if me and my family traveled up to visit and get the sell job and the coach up and left like Cal did, I'd probably feel like I wasn't really wanted there.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the Blackshear family knew that's how it was going to go down and they were fine with it, but it sure seems like they were treated like they were not very important.

Again, I hope I'm wrong.
Ok so a guy who’s ultimate goal is to play in the NBA is going to be put off by a coach keeping his word that he is a players first coach and supporting all his guys thru the process? You actually think that Cal didn’t know about the flight and didn’t inform the blackShears? I know your heart bleeds blue my friend but come on it makes zero sense. What makes sense is a player who has been very hush hush nobody even knew these other schools including UT was even involved til days before their visit. Only one coaching staff doesn’t run it’s mouth to the national guys and that is ours. Sounds like there is no really new news and the only guy who predicted no more visits last tue is the guy saying UK is in the lead. Come on we were the first to reach out and the last to get a visit. Sounds like he’s ours to me

IDK, I just feel like minimal effort was put in to get this guy.

Why did the Blackshear's cut the visit short?

None of this makes sense. If he wants to get to the NBA, why is Tennessee, Arkansas and Florida even on his list???

And now we're hearing that UK is fading? How?

This should have been a slam dunk for Cal, the only way this kid goes elsewhere is if he didn't feel comfortable or wanted while on his visit. We heard he wanted to go to UK (KY wants him and the Blackshear's have a mutual interest in joining the UK family). How did it change? Did Cal shrug his shoulders and act like we were fine either way?

We aren't "fine" if we whiff on KB. KB has a ton of dog in him, EJ and NR have none, they don't have that edge you have to have to win big.
