Not getting Blackshear was a huge blessing in disguise for Nick Richards. Look at their stats this year (Blackshear having maybe his worst statistical year and Richards his best by far):
FG% 3P% FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS
Richards: 65.9 0.0 75.2 8.1 0.3 2.3 0.1 3.1 1.5 14.5

Blackshear: 43.9 31.3 79.6 7.6 1.7 0.6 0.6 3.1 1.7 13.2

I really appreciate you posting the numbers, but woof, that is not a reader-friendly presentation format.

I never was down on Nick, I was hoping he would continue to develop and he has and it has really come together this year.. I think Nick will do good and we will see a continued better game from him and Blackshear will not even get drafted this year..

Why does it have to be one or the other? Blackshear would’ve played the 4 alongside Nick. They would’ve complimented each other well. Sestina and Brooks would’ve played considerably less minutes.

Nick needs to stay out of foul trouble, don't pick up a couple of early cheap ones then be on the bench most of the 1st half.

Blackshear is adjusting to playing in a better basketball conference. Don't give me any NCAA post season stats that shows the ACC has won more games.....99 percent of that is due to UNCheat and Puke being gifted one seeds every year and not leaving their home state for two weekends. The results are skewed big time.

He better hurry up adjusting....

We just need to do a better job of getting Richards involved. He is the most important player on the team and yet he has the 4th most attempts. I miss the days when we gave our bigs tons of easy layups and dunks. Now Richards has to create most of his opportunities one on one/two/three. Seems like he only gets one easy basket a game.

Blackshear couldn't begin to do the things Richards can as Blackshear is an unathletic very good offensive player . He has no defense whatsoever and struggles scoring against athletes . He would of been nice as a back up center but he wanted to be the main big but even on UF IMO he isn't as a good as K. Johnson .

Our guards better hit the boards hard because Johnson and Blackshear will shoot the three and draw our bigs out some. Who will match up with Johnson the best? Power inside and shooting outside. The games I have seen them play Blackshear has been outside quite a bit. All three of their guards can score. Know Cal is concerned with their versatility. Really don't know how I would defend them. Kind of different than what we are used to.

Regardless, if our guys are ready to play total intensity the whole game think we will be OK. If not, they have plenty of weapons to beat us. Their 300 pound guy has been playing better lately. Could be a problem moving him when he is in there. If we can guard the three well and not let Nemhard get comfortable we should be OK.

I won't mention names but I remember a few posters that literally cried like babies that we were "once again one player short" because we didn't get Blackshear.

Haven’t seen the Gators all year but I don’t think Blackshear plays down low. EJ should be checking him on the perimeter.

This is one game the Cats can’t afford a slow start.

Yup. Just doesn't look the same as he did at VT. Not quick enough to really help on the defensive side either. We play much better on D with Payne. He's not athletic enough to be a rim protector (gets very little elevation) or quick enough to rotate on perimeter shooters. He is somewhat skilled, but just too weak to fight through contact or double teams.

The matchup I want to see is how Scottie Lewis does defending the great UK guards. Might be the best on ball defender I've seen at FL. Still has a lot to learn though.

Suppose Lewis will take Maxey or Quickley. Don't know how much you have seen us play. Maxey is crazy good at getting shots off wherever he needs to and can make anywhere anyhow. Quickley a seasoned clever guard that plays well within himself. A great shot wherever he shoots it from.

Oh I don’t disagree. Lewis may be one of the best individual defenders I’ve seen but overall Fl’s team defense is still not all that great. One defender is just that, one guy. He can be easily forced to switch etc. Kid seems to have unlimited energy/motor and it’s fun to watch. That being said I expect UK to win. Game may be close for a while, but I expect UK to pull away.

I think he'll guard Maxey. Maxey is the biggest threat to penetrate and finish/create. Quickley is better off screens etc. He can score off the bounce but usually it's because he gets crafty.

Teams are just starting to back off hagans again. Then when he does penetrate, they play him to pass because he struggles finishing.
