Why would he? Penny’s track record of winning college basketball games and getting players drafted.

KB has one year to get it done. His least likely option would be memfuss.

Basically, he's considering everyone.

Coaches are starting to realize that a guy like Blackshear will be better in 2020 than only a handful of recruits. You could argue it's like that ANY year: The top3 transfers are right up there with the best recruits.

And if we get KB we will have 2 of the top 3 as Sestina was ranked 3rd ( KB was 1st) .

I pay very little attention to the other schools KB is looking at simply because IF he is serious about winning and getting to the NBA none of the others besides Gonzaga are real options and he isn't going all the way out to Washington . He wants to stay in the South it is obvious .

IF we get him on campus he is ours . Truly believe that.

I’d take Blackshear over Wiseman... and Penny would too, apparently lol.

Seriously though, Penny has to strike while the iron is hot. Because after next season, it’s back to reality.

I'm in the minority here but I think Penny is going to do well while he is there. Unless he has a complete meltdown of teams over the next couple years, I think he is going to continue doing well on the recruiting trail in the future.

I don't know how Memphis serves Blackshear's purpose.

Lower level of competition in the AAC.

Less amount of time on TV for big games...Memphis will get love...but they aren't getting big time matchups like UK...

The #1 recruit in the country is a big man for Memphis...he would not be the man...he knows his role would but cut...

A very young team and inexperienced coach...that's not really screaming "Will showcase me and get me ready for the NBA...

It's just Kentucky-lite...

Kentucky already had built in chemistry...proven coach...elite guard play....and a spot for him to be the focal point of the interior....Memphis is ok but just a great value Kentucky option.

I think what he means is that Penny better win now...because he did very well recruiting this class because he coached the #1 player and was involved in the AAU circuit and had good relationship with these players...

The further removed he is from high school AAU....his ties aren't as strong. If he doesn't win big next year....his star diminishes....he becomes a 90's NBA star that's the coach at Memphis....if he wins big he can get his pick of elite players.

Yeah, he’ll probably do okay. I’m just saying it helps to have 2-3 Wiseman/ Jeffries at the ready. Although, Memphis typically generates more basketball talent than the entire state of Kentucky.

If KB didn’t make a mock draft for this years class with his stats, he’s not making it on any next year regardless of where he goes. He’s not gonna get anymore exposure than he’s already gotten. He’s the #1 grad transfer on the market. Scouts know who he is. College teams know who he is. The acc knows who he is. Everyone knows who he is and yet he’s still not on any mock drafts after having a great junior year. That won’t change with another year to age in college. Very very rare if at all.

I agree.

I read yesterday that he is basing some of his selection on availability of his grad school classes. I have no idea what these are, but if they are not available at a school it is a red flag.

When does this dude have to sign? Or does he continue the summer tour til the first day of Fall classes? I’d think when he visits here he will see the well oiled machine and Cal will say either jump in or jump off.

If he comes to Kentucky for a visit, it is over in my opinion. Like somebody said in another thread, Kentucky and Calipari check off every box that Blackshear may have. No other school that he has visited or is even considering a visit can say that.

I guess promised was not the best word to use. He is penciled into the starting lineup at center. KB will not get his minutes.

He doesn't have to really "sign" anything, he just has to enroll. Which is pretty much the same as signing but not signing like a LOI or anything. omg that red bull.

I think this kid is smarter than that.
