The Bruins beat Lord Botetourt by 11 strokes to claim the title. Ellenbogen shot 73-67 to place second individually.

Congratulations to bburg, way to get a win for the river ridge! they will be strong for at least 2 more years.. maybe they can build a dynasty like deep run in group aaa. Good luck the next few years!

region 3

Congrats to Blacksburg on the great win, their gonna be good for a long time. I think winning Region 3 was a bigger test for Blacksburg than winning the state, probably the three best teams in the state come from that region in BBurg, Salem and Botetourt, also, the fourth best team in the state could have been Cave Spring, but they also play in the best golfing district ever.

Good points. Region III, and the River Ridge in particular, has been loaded the past couple of years. In '04, Salem was 2nd and B'burg was 4th at states. In '05, Salem was 2nd and B'burg was 3rd. This year, Salem very well could have finished in the top 3 had they come out of another region.

Classy post, Olay22. How will Salem be next year? Of course, Ryan Davis will only be a sophomore. Do they have any other guys returning or was this a senior dominated group other than Davis?

salem will be ok i think that they will be able to go to regions but getting to states would be quite an accomplishment. they have ryan davis,parker davis,jack prater,warren gardner,nick smeltzer,and andy thomasson

Olay 22 is right. Salem should be ok. I think that they can get to states, since they will be in an easier region next year. I think the top six will be as follows:

1. Ryan Davis
2. Jack Prater
3. Andy Thomasson
4. Nick Smeltzer
5. Warren Gardner
6. Parker Davis

I think this needs to be mentioned. If any of yall can remember, Salem cheated at last years regionals. A younger player signed an incorrect scorecard, knowing it was wrong, then went back and disqualified a Lord Botetout player. Any golf coach in the state would rather have a boy who shoots 85 than one who cheats.

Longhitter1: You need to learn how score keeping works. Both the salem player and the LB player signed the card. The LB player should have paid close attention to his scorecard before he turned it in. The salem player got caught up in the heat of the moment and did a dishonorable thing. However, after realizing what he had done, the Salem player stepped forward and told the rules committee about his wrong doing. Btw, what the salem player did is not considered cheating, so i would not label him as "a boy who cheats."

Salem cheated, and they should have been disqualified. And so should Lord Bot. cause they cried like bitches about it.
