BJ will be a star in the league. The kid is too skinny right now. Played most of the season without a real PG and not only missed some of his Sr. year in HS but the important summer part of college that we are seeing our new guys thrive in right now. He flashed glimpses of just how great he can be, but it was the perfect storm for a young KY team that had never played together. Give him a couple of years in the league and if he puts on some muscle and does things right he will ascend.
Should be good. And Askew too.
BJ and Askew were in the unfortunate position of having to thrive as youngsters on a team with NO returning experience (remember Brooks was out the first games) and didn't have all summer to come together as a team.

The NBA is watered down with too many teams with too little talent

Leaving aside the other stuff about Boston: I see this argument made from time to time and it makes not a single bit of sense to me. The US population has grown faster than the number of teams in the league, AND we draw more international players than in the past. The pool of talent is larger and deeper than it has ever been.

Will certainly be rooting for him. He played hard every game, but was just very limited physically. His survivors guilt must be very tough to live with

See I saw Goodwins problem as trying to do to much and it came across as selfish when nobody else was stepping up.
That's the same position Boston was in. He knew he was looked at as a top recruit on a team full of guys who were very inexperienced. He tried over doing things

Wish him well and really hope he's alright mentally. Not many of us see someone close to us pass and specifically in the manner he did. That would be haunting and hope he can have success in basketball and if not whatever he chooses because that's one helluva way to speed up the maturation process.
Yeah I can only imagine what he's been going through since the day of Terrence's crash. Hope he's had someone in his life to help get him through what must be an incredibly difficult time in his life.

If Boston had been the selfish quitter some of you think he is, he'd have been a lottery pick.

He killed his stock all season trying to be the only guy on the floor who could get his own shot.

He struggled with a lot of the same stuff Brandon Ingram did at Duke. He just didn't have nearly the supporting cast or an offseason/preseason to adjust.

I'm not saying he'll be a star but so much of what plagues him will change as he grows and develops.

I liked the Brandon Ingram comp Boston’s first time on the floor. I thought they looked like they could be similar players.

But struggled with the same stuff Ingram did? Come on playa. Ingram was a 40%+ 3 point shooter at Duke who also rebounded the ball better than Boston and blocked shots, too.

ingram was so much better than Boston in almost every aspect of the game.

Because he was able to take good shots in the flow of a good offense and is a more talented player.

His first year in the pros, on an awful Lakers team, he shot 40% from the field and less than 30% from three. Because he wasn't getting the same open looks and wasn't strong enough to create his own.

But yes, Brandon Ingram, who was the number two overall pick and a current NBA all star, is a better player than BJ Boston. That doesn't mean they don't struggle with similar things for similar reasons.

Boston will likely never be Ingram. He's not as big or long or talented. But if he's a poor man's version there are teams who would be very happy to have that at the end of the first round compared to the non contributors they often draft there.

The potential is clearly there. We saw it in high school. It's not a stretch to think this season and all of its circumstances was the outlier for a teenager. That's what a team will gamble on. It makes sense in a format where they're virtually all gambling.

I could tag a lot of clowns on here that love to HATE this guy, our fanbase is literally the worst when it comes to that ****.
To be fair, it would’ve been much easier to like the guy had he played for the name on the front of the jersey, instead of the name on the back. Had he done so, he would’ve been much easier to root for. Instead, he decided to be selfish as hell while here.

Why is it so difficult for some of our fans to just admit/own the fact that sometimes we get a player that is a selfish teammate? Or that a player just might not end up being as good as we thought they would be, in college or the pros? If someone couldn’t see that BJ Boston was selfish at UK last season, I really don’t know what to say.

Bj was a great teammate on the bench always cheering and smiling. I think low bball IQ more than selfish. He needed experience but dipped out after a single season

Yeah I defend Archie all the time on here but the lack of PG play forcing Archie to play like he did could literally be said for Boston also .
