BJ choosing not to play in the combine scrimmages is pretty on brand
Not too surprising since, well, there really weren't any UK highlights.

How? He played the entire season.
Wish him well and really hope he's alright mentally. Not many of us see someone close to us pass and specifically in the manner he did. That would be haunting and hope he can have success in basketball and if not whatever he chooses because that's one helluva way to speed up the maturation process.

It's ok if you don't like the kid or think he's not a great basketball player, but leave the kid alone. We're all grown ups here and putting a kid down after all he's went through is classless. It's apparent that our program has moved forward in a positive direction so what good will it do to look back and hound Boston for being less than what you had hoped. Sad thing is.... If Clarke were still alive he'd be getting the same shi* from the trash end of our fan base.
If you’re not rooting for BJ, that says more about you than him tbh.
You have way more to lose playing than not. Juzang for example was awful and dropping. Boston is gonna be drafted for the long term, not immediate
Looks to me like you just want to start an argument. I’m not seeing any replies to this post saying they don’t like the kid. I’ve seen nothing but support and sincere condolences for the Clark tragedy. But Boston was one of the biggest busts in UK basketball history and if a few fans want to state that fact I see nothing wrong with it. I’m not a trashy UK fan and I think Boston was terrible in his short stint at UK. But if he does well from this point forward I say good for him.
BJ will be a star in the league. The kid is too skinny right now. Played most of the season without a real PG and not only missed some of his Sr. year in HS but the important summer part of college that we are seeing our new guys thrive in right now. He flashed glimpses of just how great he can be, but it was the perfect storm for a young KY team that had never played together. Give him a couple of years in the league and if he puts on some muscle and does things right he will ascend.

Making a thread saying anything negative about something he chose not to do is pointless. Who really cares if he did or didn't participate. I agree with you though, to say he struggled isn't wrong..... He did . we all know that though
Absolutely rooting for the kid. Last year was a tough year on a lot of levels. But, I am absolutely rooting for him with all he has gone through.
I didn’t make the thread to say anything about what he chose to not do. Honestly when I started the thread it was when the interview had first started and I didn’t even know he wasn’t participating in the scrimmages.
Yeah. I was quoting you. I hit the wrong button… my bad. If he’s successful from this point forward that’s fine with me. I have no ill will towards him. I was just giving my two cents worth. He was a terrible player for UK. Almost beyond belief. Glad he’s gone and if he does well from this point forward then good for him.
You know, Boston didn’t live up to expectations, but he is what he is as a player. It’s not like he’s bad kid or gave up or anything. No reason not to wish him the absolute best.
A star?! Meh, I don’t think so. He was hella soft in college and couldn’t hack the physicality. Hell, he couldn’t handle the physicality in practices. He’ll be eaten alive in the League IMO.

Agree. Especially concerning for a kid that struck me as suffering from anxiety while at UK.

Yeah, he was pretty bad as well. But, he was forced to play an unnatural PG position. Good point, though.
Don't think that is fair. That team was so bad when it came to generating offense. Harrow was a serious letdown. Rest of the guys were spot up shooters or were going to score off putbacks.
A star in the NBA....is this a serious comment? That was one of the worst $*#@ - shows I've ever seen a UK for a heavy minutes player since Saul Smith played non stop minutes his Jr year. We'll see if his potential ever comes to pass.....but to me he looks like a bottom bench player at best for a few years and then off to foreign country to play his prime years.
If can get stronger physically and mentally, improve his jump shot and handles, and learn to play with more intensity on defense, before whatever team he ends up with gives up on him, then yeah there is a place for him in the NBA.
Isn't that like saying of Roseanne Barr worked on losing 75 lbs, worked on her complexion, lost the attitude and re did her hair...she'd have a shot at a beauty model? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Much undeserved flack. He played balls to the wall on a bad team. Didn’t make good decisions on the floor but he gave it his 100%. All things aside can you say that about Boston?
Not to mention he was hammered a good deal of the time he went to the hole and nothing was called. His play was the very definition of why the inpeading progress rule was enforced more strictly
Do I hope the kid makes a living playing basketball sure. Do I think he will not really, but then I didn’t think Skal would either so what do I know. The NBA is watered down with too many teams with too little talent What I do know is that in 50 + years of watching UK basketball, Boston was one of the softest, least physical players I have ever seen. His poor shooting would seem to preclude him playing much in an NBA placing such a premium on it. If I was an NBA exec thinking about drafting him my question would be What does he do WELL. I’m having a hard time answering that based on his time here. Average to poor handle, average to poor shooter, shy’s away from contact, can’t defend a physical guard, can’t score when somebody puts a body on him, can’t rebound because he is physically weak.
I knew what these dudes were about when they were on that "built different" talking point nonsense then when the bright lights came on for the first time, no one competed. Easily the worst and most embarrassing Big Blue Madness performance in the history of the event. The dudes really are built different, too cool to compete because they believe they already made it.
