Well the message has been sent....about BF. My only thought was....could it have waited until the season was over.....maybe, maybe not. I am opening up myself for criticism for saying this....I too wanted him gone. Mistakes were made years ago, hiring him for a job he was not qualified for. I don't know BF, but I bet he is a really nice guy. If someone offered you a job for $900K, a person would be crazy to turn it down. But, it simply did not work out. BF will get another job somewhere, and I wish him well. I'm sure he has black & gold running thru his veins like we do.

Now, onto Barta. Barta is a piece of crap. He threw Beth Goetz under the bus, making her look like the bad guy. He bypassed the 'nepotism' rule and because of him, we are stuck with KF for....what, another 5-6 years....only because we can not afford his buyout. Barta himself should have been canned years ago, for discrimination lawsuits against Iowa. I agree with everybody's thoughts in this forum....time to move forward, better days are ahead. All in all, Barta is the jerk who got us in this mess, and the President is too, by not getting rid of him.

Brian Ferentz seems to me, from a great distance, to be an arrogant SOB. Here's one fact about the soon-to-be former OC/QB coach: When he was a player at Iowa, Brian and some buddies filed for, and were granted, Section 8 housing, housing meant for the poor and underprivileged. His dad was a multimillionaire at the time.

But I applaud your observations about Gary Barta, the puppet who lost millions in lawsuits, the numbskull who let head coaches write their own contracts and buyout provisions, the dunce who hired Todd Lickliter.

Today, Beth Goetz looks like pretty much the opposite of GarBar. She let KF know that his days as king of Iowa City are over. But until KF is no longer coaching Iowa football, the Hawkeyes are in for a miserable time. If you can't even win the Big Ten West, what are ya gonna do when you have to play Ohio State, Washington, UCLA, Oregon, and USC, not to mention Michigan and Penn State et al.?

Most schools would have canned Kirk Ferentz a decade ago, and we would have been spared the black players lawsuit, this nepotism soap opera, and being a national laughingstock because of Iowa's pathetic QB play and "offenses" over much of the KF era, and especially the last four years. Petras and Hill. Wow. Those are some QBs.

Hey Dukeslater21....thanks...I like your input also. Barta is a piece of crap, got us into this mess. And the President at the time....looking the other way. There has been no progress/upswing for a long time....just 'flat line'. At $5m a year, should have been canned, but here we go again, Barta screws us with the extension. Those housing apartments were empty plenty of vacancies. Brian did not take an apartment away from a poor person. He wanted to live on his own without the help of his wealthy parents. He applied as a poor college student. The managers were happy to rent an otherwise vacant apartment. BFD.

I believe Kirk is closer to $7M/year, fyi.

Kirk is the 6th highest paid coach in the B1G. Longest tenure in college football. He makes significant contributions to the children’s hospital. I get the amount coaches are paid is an obscene amount, but his pay has long since passed the point where it is out of line in comparison to other P5 programs.
