Not surprising if it happens. Recall Ed Orgeron being canned by LSU a mere two seasons after a national championship. And Mike Norvell at FSU who was on top of the world less than a year ago is surely feeling the heat. Power 4 schools don’t mess around.

Yep I don’t see a way FSU comes up with the 80 million they would owe Norvell.

When ASU hired ancient Herm Edwards in 2018 allegedly the plan was for Herm to be a CEO/head coach for a couple years and groom Napier to take over. But Napier blew up the plan by leaving. He might wish he had stayed at ASU.

Ugh. I feel for any fan base who is thinking they don't have the right HC this early in the season. We ourselves have been there too many times these last many years.

Unless you’re going after a coach who currently doesn’t have a job or you want to see a coach whos already on staff , Nebraska and Wisconsin 2022, I think it creates a lot of unrest with the program this early in the season to fire the head coach. But it’s Florida and I’m glad to watch them suffer.

Groomers is such an awful word.

Was a stupid hire to begin with.

In fact, firing Mullen was so laughably stupid that they deserved to be punished by the football gods

I remember people praising Florida State last year for how much they are using the portal just as Michigan State got praised for it a couple years ago. Was there any actual buy in on that Florida State team last year? 24 players quit the team before their bowl game, only one was a first round draft pick. It's a sorry state of affairs.

I almost think Napier wants out at this point. And really, who could blame him? They suck, they are not getting better, he will get a huge buyout and can either never work again or hook up with a coaching buddy and get on a new staff.

With the money they get now, even at small schools, might as well leave and go coach at South Florida or FIU...where no one cares, no one covers you, there is no pressure.

AKA Frost and Callahan and Pelini. When Callahan showed up to pressers with zero school colors or gear on, everyone knew it was over...Pelini faking a punt against Iowa when they left their defense on the field....cringe....but you can't just quit cause of the $$$

At times you have to wonder if guys are trying to get fired. Jimbo comes to mind

Probably, when the pressure is too much and it feels insurmountable. The guys that end up turning it around are a small group.

Yeah, even the most intense, competitive, highest work ethic people in the world have to start weighing their options when faced with the alternative, which is not having to mess with any of it anymore and still making millions. It's just human nature. Especially when you start sprinkling in thoughts of, I can always try the consulting route, or I can always try broadcasting, etc.
