That would be a blow for people that have him high on our list for the year after next if true.

I still don't see him wanting to leave the NBA, though.

He's doing mediocre in the NBA, the Bulls aren't world beaters. I could see him jumping to Texas, they could give him a raise, as could we. I think he's making about $6 mil. I think he's a more realistic option than Brad Stevens. Will be interesting if true.

Why wouldn’t the interim coach at Texas get it? All he’s done since taking over is win. Players love him too. He’s been at Texas for over 11 years
Vitale was on TV screaming bloody murder the other day that it was a crime that Texas hadn't given the guy the job full time yet. I thought it was outrageous, can't you at least let them finish the season before you start chastising the entire administration over not giving the guy the full time job? He hasn't even coached a tournament yet.

This sounds like the most Vitale thing ever. What a goober.

Here's why Texas has not given the job to the assistant coach. They want someone who can recruit and apparently they are not sure that he can.

Texas is going to have an interesting decision on Rodney Terry (the interim coach) if they make a deep run in the tournament. He’s obviously done a great job with this Texas team after taking over in tumultuous circumstances. The thing is, he’s not an up and coming assistant who hadn’t been given a chance until now. The start of this season was actually his first year back as an assistant after a 10 year stint as a head coach at Fresno State and UTEP in which he was barely above .500 and made only a single tournament, a first round exit in 2016. That’s not typically the kind of resume that lands you an upper tier power 5 job.

That makes it hard.

Why won't Texas just keep the interim head coach, make him head coach for the next 3-4 years to see what he can do. Especially if he makes a deep run in the tourney.

Remember Vitale's meltdown when Tubby left.
He had his own little happy dance when he assured us that B.D. wasn't walking through the UK door.

Get past the sweet 16 , as in elite 8 , FF…the next coach @ Texas is the current interim coach . Sporting News coach of the yr, Big 12 tourney champ after waxing Kansas ….it’d be too bad of a look . It’ll likely be a 3 yr deal that makes it easy to fire him , but they‘ll move forward with him I’d bet . Wait till the players start lobbying for him after the tourney as well..

He did the same thing to Barnhart over BCG. Ranted and raved about him not having a contract.

At this point I think Texas has to take the interim label off Terry. They'll deal with some bad political fallout if they don't. A minority coach on a liberal college campus being bypassed for a old white guy would be trouble. Agree or disagree...it's the world we live in now.

Have you seen his overall record as a head coach? Check it out and that will answer your question.

People on here say we’re no good, and crazy as a loon. We go golfing in the morning, drink beer in the afternoon. Kinda like my two beagle hounds, like to lay around in the shade. I can’t draw it worth a damn, but I can damn sure make it fade, and I ain’t asking nobody for nothing, ……………….,….
