Frost's message to the walk-ons the other night was that they were the cornerstone and foundation of the program.

I would bet my family's farm in Germany that BD had no intentions of making that a thing while he was in power in North Stadium. If we want to talk about "fit", BD was the furthest thing from that for Nebraska football. Addition by subtraction!

It is always interesting to see where guys like this end up. It never really seemed like he has had much success as an executive in football. Probably back to an analyst role for him. Which to me is laughable, how an analyst who failed at their job can be an analyst.

Maybe he was guilty of over analyzing everything all the time. :)

Still think it's a cutting edge move to have a position like this and wouldn't blink twice if Frost decides to add someone in this role. Maybe not as heavy as BD was involved, but to have someone like that available to the players can be very beneficial.
Agreed...Great position wrong person for it (is seems)

The very same people who fell all over themselves to praise the tweeting of maps and the early identification of POB as an elite QB can't wait to throw the baby out with Riley's bathwater.

The game day coaching and week-to-week development fell on their faces. However, the recruiting organization and execution were pretty damned good. That staff laid a lot of groundwork that Frost and co would do well to emulate in terms of getting NU back in the mouths of blue chip guys.

The missing ingredient was the wins to convince the best guys that they can come to NU and leave with rings.

Not to bag on the kid, but I don't know if you can consider POB and elite QB. Not that he isn't, but we have just not seen enough of him play to have any type of conclusion. He had offers from Colorado, CSU, Texas Tech and UNLV. which is kind of strange for a so called 4 star kid.

I would say that as of the end of this year, the one bright spot in the Riley recruiting era has been JD Spielman. He has been the one true contributor IMO.

I think it will be a fair comparison - give or take- to compare this years class with the other power 5 programs making a coaching change. I suspect FSU-Florida-UCLA-aTm will outperform us given their location. Interested to see how we do compared to Tennessee-Oregon-ASU.

It might help take some of the work load off of the coaching staff. I thought when BD was hired it was a good idea. Then you hear the negative rumors and you wonder if he had too much power or at least Riley let him have too much say.

If as suggested Devaney was responsible for Diaco coming and Bryson not coming, he is someone we definitely don't want around.

There's a whole bunch of Nebraska homerism about that kid and I'm not sure that Riley's staff was wrong about him. We'll find out eventually and it will suck if he turns in to a good college player. Part of a staff's job though is to decide if a kid is a good fit for what you need. Diaco on the other hand.....whew.

Rams have gotten better w/out him (and his HC hire), haven't they?
