Not surprising. Very few of these guys know when to hang it up. Itās part of the narccissitic personality seen in most successful coaches.
This is where Pope needs to play the card of Self pulling a Pearl move and retiring right before season starts and handing the team over to J. Vaughn.

Im honestly not even sure we land Stokes even if Self did retire. Something tells me hed just wait to see if any other program might offer him more.

Did anybody ever really think he wouldnāt come back. The first time I saw that there was speculation he might retire, I just laughed and thought, hell he aināt going nowhere. I havenāt thought about it since and now today this BS comes out, all by design.
