Good point.People can point to Indiana not being good. People can say they were without their top 2 WRs but the D really showed up tonight regardless. Pitched a shut out in the second half. That kind of play is all you can ask for
Give that man a beer! Unlike Frost and Chins - he's earned it.Both special teams and defense contributed to the win. Congrats coach.
Cheers to Mickey too.
The tackling is what really stood out to me. That along with the addition by subtraction of firing Chinander.I am kind of blown away by our improvement on defense. Just one game, but considering where we were, wow.

Maybe he's got some of that Ed O swag going on.Hope those young women are his family![]()
Well don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I bet there were boatloads of fans like us who were shocked massively seeing our defense come on so strong. Haha.....it was great!I am kind of blown away by our improvement on defense. Just one game, but considering where we were, wow.

FOR REALWhen is the last time a Husker team made adjustments and played better in the second half, taking control of the game?
With the way the first half ended, I thought we were heading to another embarrassment.
Did Tommi Hill play tonight? Don’t remember seeing him a lot. Been seeing him a lot earlier this season and that’s not good to see a CB a lot. Didn’t see him a lot tonight and that’s either excellent by him or he didn’t play and I missed something.
Hertzog played well. Obviously the scoop and score but on the plays IU targeted him, he stepped up. Good adjustment Busch.Hertzog started in his spot and Hill’s PT was pretty limited.
Yes he played a few snaps. I think they were mostly on obvious rushing downs. He has been really bad. #13 played really well for a freshman. And he was in man coverage almost every play.Did Tommi Hill play tonight? Don’t remember seeing him a lot. Been seeing him a lot earlier this season and that’s not good to see a CB a lot. I agree. I think Chinander absolutely refused to adapt to what these players are good at. He couldn't do it.I’m seriously wondering what in the heck Chinander was doing here. Outside of a rough patch in the second quarter, this team covered receivers, tackled and in general played with a ton of energy.
Consider the quality of the opponent we played. That might have a lot to do with the defensive improvement.I am kind of blown away by our improvement on defense. Just one game, but considering where we were, wow.

I did consider the quality of the opponent. We gave up 642 yards to Georgia Southern just a few weeks ago.Consider the quality of the opponent we played. That might have a lot to do with the defensive improvement.
Georgia Southern realistically might be better than Indiana.I did consider the quality of the opponent. We gave up 642 yards to Georgia Southern just a few weeks ago.
Frost/Chins lose this one: factConsider the quality of the opponent we played. That might have a lot to do with the defensive improvement.
Right. This wasn’t a juggernaut like Northwestern, North Dakota or Georgia Southern.
Our defense got rolled the first 4 weeks against 3 terrible teams. And OU. Indiana is better than 3 of those teams.Consider the quality of the opponent we played. That might have a lot to do with the defensive improvement.
They beat North Dakota, so you never know.Frost/Chins lose this one: fact
This.Right. This wasn’t a juggernaut like Northwestern, North Dakota or Georgia Southern.
Good one! Coastal Carolina beat the mighty GA Southern 34-30.Right. This wasn’t a juggernaut like Northwestern, North Dakota or Georgia Southern.
Or OU for that matter…..Right. This wasn’t a juggernaut like Northwestern, North Dakota or Georgia Southern.
Matt Millen had some good commentary on what we’re doing in the second half from play to play on coverages. We were getting some pressure on him though and for the most part he couldn’t get the ball out to the right guy. Their QB isn’t a runner and doesn’t like to move his feet. Thank God we brought pressureI wasn't too impressed. We stayed in cover 1 literally the entire game and Indiana couldn't exploit it. Against smarter teams, it isn't going to work running the exact same thing over and over again.
Against better teams we won’t run the same defense over and over. It was working against Indiana and so they stuck with it.I wasn't too impressed. We really didn’t run the exact same D on every play. We blitzed from different places a mixed up coverage to some degree. I will agree that our alignments and coverages were similar and WAY more logical than the crap Chin called for OUAgainst better teams we won’t run the same defense over and over. It was working against Indiana and so they stuck with it.
