What's wrong with this Gottlieb guy?

He played at Oklahoma State for Eddie Sutton, so he hates us for the way we think of Eddie for the trouble that happened under his watch. That and he is a big douche. He also steals credit cards.

So the guy who regularly blasts officials and the NCAA says Allen's tripping is nbd since an official was right there and did nothing and the ACC did not suspend? Got it. He has also defended UNC, UL, and Syracuse.

Whatever the reason, likely arrogance from displacing Vitale at top dog, he has been insufferable for the last year or so. Nothing but a shill these days.

Seeing as how we don't have credit cards and all we get is disability (long story), he wouldn't get much :p

The part about the ref was funny, because it's Tony Greene he's vouching for.

The same Tony Greene who stared at the monitor for 5 minutes before handing us 2 techs versus Mississippi St. earlier this year.

Why the inconsistency, Jay? Since Tony Greene is such a good ref?

Nothing wrong with what Jay's take at all. Don't expect full blown attack from a guy against his alma mater.

I'm really disappointed in Bilas, to be honest. Yeah - always knew he was a Dukie, and had some homerism going on. But until recently, he's managed to keep that at bay pretty well. Enjoyed hearing him calling games because he knew wth he was talking about. But now - wow.
I agree with you Bkocats. I'm really disappointed in him on this topic. I like JB but to say it's really no big deal is disappointing. It is a big deal because it was Intentional Twice and if those players got hurt then what. If not the ACC then Duke should suspend him. I did like SG and Jwill"s opinion to suspend him.

If you see any unauthorized charges on your credit card, you will know who he is by the end of the day.

I mean really...who would go to Gottless' webpage? 'What's in YOUR wallet? Nothing now!'

By the time you logout of Gottlieber.com you owe American Express for a home in Rio.

Jay will attack the NCAA but defend Roy and Allen. Even some of the Dukies on this board have been clear that Allen's actions are completely unacceptable. Jay has the ethics of a degenerate sea turtle.

Jay's job is to question the ncaa, not student athletes. Again, expecting him to trash his alma mater says that you can't place your own bias aside.

You sound more like a lawyer than Bilas. Nobody asked him to "trash" or "attack" his alma mater. Why are you refusing to accept that he can call for Allen to be suspended, without it being an attack? I don't think anyone believes Williams was attacking them.

with all due respect -
he didn't seem to have any trouble questioning the actions of Humphries when he slammed the ball down in celebration

Bilas iirc stated that the refs shouldn't have t'd Humphries up.

IMO, you guys are mad at Bilas because nothing is going to happen to Allen. How exactly is that his fault? He said he would be okay with it if they suspended him, he would be okay no matter what they done. You're expecting him to lobby for punishment. Ridiculous.

I distinctly remember the end of the 86 UofL vs. Duke game, when a Duke player slugged Jeff Hall. Bilas played on that team. Can't remember which player it was, but sneaky dirty play with Duke goes back 30 years.

Now I'm sick from using a Card as an example.:weary:

Jay Williams said Allen should have been suspended. Jay Wiliams also played for Coack K at Duke.

Can you not see the leaks in your logic?

Bilas is a chump. A puppet. We need a UK guy at ESPN. We have more players in NBA than any team and we have no presence at ESPN

I guess if Bilas is no longer gushing all over Kentucky then we must hate him now? Seems to be a common theme. Last year know one could say enough great things about him. This year we're down a little bit and now that he's not giving us the accolades we were getting last year, everyone is off the Bilas bandwagon. I have no issue with him and would still rather have him at our games than someone like Dick Vitale. Even being a Duke guy, he's still more impartial than a lot of the other analysts out there. But, that's just my two cents. I like him.
Thanks for being rational.

honestly, i'm biased but here is my two cents. duke's elite entitlement and douchey attitude--in not just their players--is what pisses people off. but, surprising to me, in some ***-backwards logic, this results in refs and others actually giving them *more* leniency. maybe the lesson to be learned is that we also need to be douchey like duke.

with that said, bilas is the best of the bunch. he seems like a decent dude.
