On ESPN when asked by Jemele Hill if Tom Izzo can afford to give a no comment.:

"That's a really good question Jemele and I don't know the answer to that. I know that all of us want answers and we want them Immediately but I'm not sure that a post game presser conference is exactly the right place to do it. There are profound questions that need to he answered like what did you know, when did you know it are important questions but there are also profound questions of process here."

If Izzo is smart he will speak publicly as little as possible about it. I'm sure that's what any lawyer would tell him. Release statements, but answer very few if any questions from reporters.

Meeting of the minds right there. Jemele Hill and Jay Bilas. You know some major issues are going to get resolved in that conversation.

Not a fan of Bilas and wasn't back when everyone on this board was kissing his ***... but he is right here. Legally and just common sense wise not the place for Izzo to speak. Pitino should have shut up but he just couldn't do it.

BTW~ MSU, Izzo, Dantonio, US Gymnastics Association and anyone remotely close to this horrendous mess is done...

Izzo will cry, get choked up and talk about these young men but the bottom line is that he has to go. I remember him being a candidate for the UK job, luckily for the females of UK that he did not.

None of you Izzo must go fans should have to face women claiming you raped or were knowledgable of a rape. Actually you should all be in that position. You'd find that justice is not blind but only winking at the plaintiff.

PC is BS.

I can't quite figure out what you are saying, but from a practical standpoint, Izzo is a dead man walking. I can't imagine a new AD coming in, facing the task of rebuilding after the Nassar calamity while defending the school from horrendous charges of female abuse, and keeping a coach who played players and promoted one to assistant who are credibly accused a raping and punching out women. Same goes for Dantonio.

If Izzo has any brains at all and sees the writing on the wall, he will sit through 2 hours of coaching tonight and then immediately announce his resignation after the game. Surely he has paid attention to what's gone on in collegiate sports the last 5 years and know there's no way he gets out of this.

On PTI today, they talked Michigan St, they talked the AD Hollis, they talked Dantonio, they talked Nassar

not a single mention of Izzo. Clearly he's well liked and people don't want to go after him.

If what we are reading is true, he helped cover up rapes - or at a minimum - refused to act on rape accusations.

That's a gots to go situation.

The very suggestion of impropriety is immediately elevated to "horrendous charges" with scant physical or witnessed confirmation. "Accused" is not always translated into a guilty verdict. UK fans should recall the incident of one of our football players being accused and driven out of school by an unproven and suspiciously thin claim by a female student.

It would be ridiculous to think these things don't happen but PC demands that in female abuse the accused be guilty despite the most transparent of claims. Careers are ruined, reputations smeared and families are broken over "horrendous charges, calamity and dead man walking" labels that may or may not be justified. The legal system not public opinion is where this should be fought out.

This is offered just to explain my original post and I realize we all don't feel the same way.

In the interest of accuracy, nowhere is Izzo accused of covering up rape. The girl in the Payne/Appling case went to the police, which immediately takes it out of Izzo’s hands, other than any sort of punishment the players received. And we know that the punishment was nothing other than to move their dorms to another one.

Does he deserve to lose his job because of non-actions he took 8 years ago, even though the same information was available at that time? And i think there were protests at MSU about it, can’t really remember. It’s difficult for me to make that leap.

Izzo will wait and have a great PR guy write him some appoligy speech and we did everything correct blah, blah ,blah and everyone will believe him. It's sickening to see how important winning has become that people will cover up those crimes to win at any cost.

Coaches, administrators = disgusting

College sports have become too big and have considered money more important than the welfare of the students. The entire system needs a reset, including the NCAA, who apparently knew of this shite since 2010.

Absolutely disgusting.

how bout those speeches that both coaches gave yesterday. they were written by the same person lol. “courageous warriors” and “healing process” were used too much. they did not want to be there and weren’t there any longer than they had to be. that’s lawyer motivated if anything could be. nationally the story is only so old, most people haven’t even begun to digest the gravity of it and they’re talking about “healing process”. what a crock.

It was 37 claims. 37. And that was just the football team. A coach the university knew about was just sentenced to up to 175 years. The president and AD quit in the same week. ...but you're right, it's just allegations.
