Basically he's buying UL's line about impermissible benefits, and agreeing that the argument that UL should have known, when it took the NCAA giving people immunity for them to find out, is perplexing. I do agree with his saying starting Pitino's suspension with ACC play is bizarre.

Shocker that Bilas sides with the school. He would never agree that the NCAA ever does anything right.

Also, totally specious argument by Bilas about the needing immunity thing. The NCAA people were not on campus and in charge of these players. Just a ridiculous lawyer debating move by Bilas.

I used to have a lot of respect for Jay Bilas but he has lost most of that with me based on some things he has said and defended in the last few months. If he defends UofL at all in any of this then what little respect I still had for him will be gone completely.

Bilas can't argue against these penalties. The NCAA is an organization of rules, and the rules for ineligible players don't require the school to know about the ineligibility. The one thing this ruling is, if it is anything, is consistent with prior cases.

Valvano said UL will sue if they lose appeal. Bilas said he doesn't think they have a good case, and added that UNCheat has a better case for a lawsuit.

Never has somebody fallen so far so fast. He's a joke now.
Glad I'm not listening. Bilas is UNC's lap dog.

it doesn't matter who knows it happened, it matters that is happened. hell no one "knows" that that derrick rose didn't take his SAT. Cal didn't know that marcus camby was taking money and jewelry from and agent, the Penn state case had nothing to do with players or ineligibility yet all were punished by an organization that they choose to be members of. Louisville can appeal or even sue but the NCAA can just not allow them to participate in NCAA events until they take their punishment

If UNCHEAT Men's Basketball gets away with no penalties, UofL, Alabama, USC, UK, Syracuse, Penn St, SMU, Jim Harrick, Bruce Pearl, etc should sue the NCAA!!

Jay Bilas is nothing but a UNCHEAT and ACC propaganda minister!!

Like the say in law school... If the law is on your side, pound the law. If the facts are on your side, pound the facts. If neither are on your side, pound the table.

Jay, and UofL, are just pounding the table.
UL law school - when the whores are paid for pound the whores.

Jay is a clown and a shadow of his former self. I mute the TV when he calls our games.

Bilas - Not one shred of evidence that anyone other than McGee knew anything about this. So, he was paying for this himself? How did he pass law school?
Not to mention it was still going on after McGee got a new job in a different state. Was he organizing this across state lines on a volunteer basis?

someone should ask Bilas what he was paid to speak at the event held by the PR firm for UNC . And whether that effects his judgment and/or gives him a conflict of interest in covering UNC.

Happened this May I believe. He will remember it and admit to it and say it's done all the time

Jason Anderson just put the smack down to Bilas's statement that there is not one shred of evidence anyone other than McGee knew about it. He read a paragraph that talks about a player who said one of the assistants said, at practice, that they were practicing bad because they had strippers all night. Shut up Jay, until you know what you are talking about.

Bilas - The NCAA has violated every rule it's ever had in the UNCheat case.

Good Lord.
Hes not wrong on some level. Technically its not the NCAA job to monitor academic issues when it doesn't pertain to sports. Theyre claiming this is an academic issue and not athletic so the NCAA doesn't have grounds there as far as I know. I don't know why though they are trying to separate the two when its clear that it was both an academic and athletic issue. Problem becomes how much do the 2 overlap and does that give NCAA the right to overstep their boundaries into academics specifically.

I don't know if that's totally correct but that's what I gather from it all. I think the grey area is what keeps UNC in the clear. Unless the classes were comprised of solely athletes they cant claim that it was an athletic issue only, therefore it becomes an academic issue with lack of oversight and control of the courses taken. So does the NCAA have any precedence if that's the case?

I think the question becomes whether or not the players would have been eligible if they didn't take these classes, and even so its an issue with the university not stopping these fraudulent classes from existing. Just such a cluster f*** of issues that it seems the NCAA doesn't totally have the power to punish UNC for what happened.

On the UL issue. I think its funny that UL people still act like Pitino had no idea. Just laughable to think he didn't even have the slightest clue. Never heard a peep during all those years? Give me a break.

Bilas has proven himself to be a disingenuous asshat since deciding to defend UNCheat and Whoreville to the bitter end.

Completely squandered his reputation.

I also want to know if it is in their by-laws that they have to let players and/or schools pay back impermissible benefits and get eligibility back. I know that's usually the case, but if it's not in stone, then I don't see how that's relevant.
