Who can share some stories of playoff upsets they were at live or heard stories about?

I was there in Memorial Stadium For the Class D2 Championship when Sargent beat Howells 21-18 in both schools last game as Howells and Sargent. Now Sargent was 13-0 and played a good schedule but Howells did too. Howells was also 9-0 in state title games. Howells also best Sargent in the finals the previous year 46-7. I couldn’t believe it when it was over.

Another was 8-0 Wakefield losing in the first round to Ponca in 2004, 7-6. The Trojans beat Ponca 35-6 in week 8. The Trojans were good that year. They would finish as C2 runner up in boys basketball that spring and won state baseball too.

In 2002, Oakland-Craig was undefeated and ranked #1, got upset by Lyons-Decatur in the 1st round, whom they beat the week prior. There was 8 inches of snow on Tuesday night that week, and it was a very cold game.

Last year= Mullen beat Sandhills/Thedford. Several years ago I think 1 seed Eustis-Farnam was upset by a 16 seed.

2008, Alliance lost to Ogallala 56-6 in the regular season. Ogallala 8-1 to the playoffs, Alliance 4-5. Looking at the wildcard archive that year, looks like Ogallala was the 3 or 4 seed. Alliance won 12-7 in the first round.

It wasn't a playoff game, but in the mid-2000s Jay Ball had an Omaha South team with about 30 players and they beat Omaha Creighton Prep with Zach Potter...they were a good team. I just can't imagine seeing anything like that at the Class A level anymore.

I was at the Mullen vs. Sandhills game. Wouldn't call it a big upset since it was a rivalry game and the regular season match up was close until the last five minutes. It was mostly notable because Mullen won on a fake FG with eight seconds left.
