Cal and Pope is that Cal is a point guard oriented coach and Pope is not. Pope likes to have a big 20 feet from the basket running plays. Pope will never land a big time point guard !!!

Biggest difference is Cal resume and his accomplishments vs O NCAA wins prior to UK, 0 recruiting, 0 player development, overpaid Mike Pope.
lets stop comparing a HOF coach that brought Kentucky number 8 NCAA title, multiple final 4,and was great in first 10 years to Mike Pope, who didn’t accomplish anything anywhere.
our wishful thinking that Pope would be great just because he loves Kentucky and is a nice guy has to end because it is not healthy.

Ummm our team is driven by 3 guards currently and some meh 4s and 5s.
Yes, very good point, but to be fair ... our current scheme is pretty much isolation with Oweh and Aberdeen taking close to half our shots every game.
well oweh would be the 3rd option on most kentucky teams
One of the major reasons he is not still here is going back to back years with Wheeler as his PG right after Askew then too loyal to DJ. He seems back to his philosophy now.
Which is why they started winning! That and MM was playing much better. But as of now seems to have hit a wall! That's a large part of last nights problem!
