Bigger small-ball?

Cliff will be a huge key to our season, and if he gets in foul trouble, I’m confident we can play “small-ball” successfully without a true 5 in the game.

I know Agee is here to fill that backup 5 role, but from watching his game film, he appears more like a quick and strong 4 with moves, who can take it to the rim and also make the occasional outside shot.

Our length at every position gives us the option to play a bigger small-ball, with guys who can pass, knock down shots, and defend.

We’ll be a matchup nightmare for some teams even with Cliff on the bench. Really looking forward to the season.

The one problem is our “smalls” aren’t super quick. JY brought that element the last two years. Ball movement and player motion would be key.

That may be true, although that would be the case with Cliff in there too, no?

My point is that even with Cliff on the bench in foul trouble, we have the ability to play without a true 5 and still cause matchup problems with our length and ability.

Caleb is quick when he’s the 3 in the line up. Moves well without the ball and can keep up with most players 1-4 on defense.

Agree with you. Also, defensively, we are very slow. Baker, Harper, and Mulcahy all struggle to keep their man in front of them.

It's true. But quickness and length don't go together. Just physics. So we are long. We will need game plans to win with length.

We do need one person with quickness though on O to initiate the offense. I'm very worried if PM is our main option at PG.
