I like Gruden and I dislike Fisher, so I hope it's Fisher. He seems made to be the Raiders coach. It certainly makes the Raiders a much more interesting watch. Bonus is I get to watch Gabe road grade some MFr's

Biggest mistake in that group is Fisher taking the A&M job. It is a coaching graveyard that only Jackie Sherrill has escaped (well I guess the Bear too if you want to go back that far).

Michigan was in the Orange last season. They lost 18 starters from that team and were in the outback. Michigan will be very good again next season.

One has the 14th best winning percentage among active head coaches in his league. The other has the 5th best.

Now if the 5th best were in the NFL and the 14th best were in D1, I'd say they were about equal, but Jimbo is the 5th best in D1 and Gruden is 14th best in the NFL.

It's obvious which one is the bigger mistake.

Could work out great for bith, but guaranteeing that much money doesn’t really provide much incentive to bust your ***. Yeah yeah, these guys are competitive hate losing yada yada but they are also now biased by insane contracts. They won’t work as hard as a young hungry coach would - human nature. I’ll be surprised if either programs gets the return out of the investment.

In 5 years Nick Saban will retire, thus opening up the SEC West for Texas A&M to potentially make their move...and the Raiders will be underachieving in a brand new city, Las Vegas.

Both are great coaches. But I'll take Gruden. I think Jimbo, at least does what Sumlin did. They will be competitive on Tx talent alone. Jimbo is probably home for awhile, unfortunately.

Unless he brings some Defensive linemen in from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana, Jimbo won't win big there. Texas football is essentially 7 on 7 pickup games....great quarterbacking, outstanding receivers, could multipurpose running backs. However, the State of Texas has forgotten how to play smashmouth football.

No doubt but he'll have an unlimited recruiting budget and the resources to hire top flight bag men errrrr assistants. I just don't don't think those crazy bastards spent that much up front on Jimbo without planning to spend enough to finish the job. Now long term....there is a 100% chance they will 17 it up somehow. I am not sure either one works out to be much better than the coach they are replacing. I think Jimbo was in one of the easiest places to win in college football at Florida State, at a time when Miami and Florida were down. He's a really good coach, but Texas A&M has a weird culture that has chewed up every other coach that has come through the turnstile. I think he will win 8-10 games for a few years and they will turn on him. Alabama will go from Saban to Dabo and Jimbo cannot beat either.

I am not sure Gruden is going to be any better than Del Rio. I just think with the move to Vegas, Oakland is about to see a huge revenue increase. Even if it doesn't, NFL revenue is so much greater than even Texas A&M, when it comes time to swallow the pill, Oakland has an easier time.

Both teams paid Saban and Belichick money for guys that are not Saban and Belichick.

Harbaugh has finished 3rd, 3rd and 4th in the Big 10 East and is 1-5 against Ohio St. and Michigan St. 1 major bowl appearance in 3 seasons. Not bad, but not worth $9M per year either.

I don't think it's fair to say "not worth the 9m" until you get into the 4th season. None of his recruits are really playing and point blank I don't think you judge someone until that 4th season. I completely agree. I really don't have any issue with aTm paying a guy $7.5 mil/year over 10 years....they are rich as ****. But why in the world would they fully guarantee it? Could they really not get the deal done with a $30-40 million buyout, to where Fisher would have some incentive to not get fired? Just seems stupid to me.

Is Gruden's contract also fully guaranteed? If so, that's even dumber considering he hasn't even been coaching for the last 10 years.

I think Gruden will be good. He has created a huge network of relationships with pro and college teams, especially player evaluations. These things will pay off if he creates the right group of assistants around him.

Fisher can do okay if he can deal with the cult of aTm.
