Theres something missing this year. The entire conference seems a bit off. Looks like a bunch of 4 to 8 seeds. No really good teams. Like 6 or 7 solid teams. As far WVU is concerned this year is a complete embarrassment. Solid at beginning but once the big guy got hurt all downhill. This may take years to fix if Huggy isn’t on his game. Oscar better come in like Zion. WVU may be in a downturn for awhile. Recruiting better be good the next two or three years.

I don't there is a Final 4 team in the Big XII this year.

With Culver returning I think WV could have something next year if McCabe or Knapper step up

Big12 is always solid but this year just seems weird. Like inconsistent or something. Never know in March but I think this conference being described as brutal or meat grinder is a joke. Culver may be good one day but he’s young. The other two suck.
You want that to the narrative
There is a good chance that the conference gets 7 maybe 8 teams in.

Respect was earned outside of the conference.
But.....Kansas St is tough.
They are the team that truthfully ruined WV's season.
The what if comes in play because of the comeback.
With the experience K State has in the back court they are a team I wouldn't want to play.
Texas Tech is an elite defensive team.
There are 2-4 others
Kansas
Iowa St
Possibly Texas or TCU
All of these teams could make legit Sweet 16 runs and play with any team in the country.
I see three top 20 teams that can make a run. Kansas, KSU and Iowa St. The rest are overrated and middle of any pack. There’ll be 7 teams in IMO. Never know but that’s what it looks like to me.
Tech is better than KU right now.
Tech could easily blow Kansas off the court in Lubbock next weekend.
Texas and TCU are very athletic.

Think K State has the best chance with Tech at #2.
But both pretty low.
We picked wrong year to suck.Any Wvu team of 2015-2018 would have a very good chance to win this league this year. Not really going out on a limb I know, considering we finished 2nd 3of those years in much tougher big 12s.
I think the main reason the big 12 seems down is wvu sucks this year. We have clearly been the 2nd best program behind Kansas the last 5 years.

This pretty much sums it up, but non traditional basketball programs like TCU and TT being some of the better teams adds to that perception. The biggest factor, though, is Kansas not being a top 5 team nationally this year. When your blue blood programs don’t show out, it affects the entire perception of the strength of the conference.

You called it. Sad thing for Kansas is that they were the best team in country with the center big man Azubuke and forward Desosa playing and guard Legerald Vick. Losing those 3 killed their chances.
I wouldn’t say football is down yet. We didn’t do what we wanted this past season but 8 wins is a decent year. I think this upcoming season is more of a transitional year than a down year, where we expect to fight to get bowl eligible, but not a situation where the coach is failing to get the job done.
Basketball is a mess and can’t be sugar coated.
