Why does the BIG have its basketball tourney so early, before all these lame conferences? Shouldn't we build up to the best conferences?

Because Daddy Delaney thought it would be a good idea.

They had it early because Delany wanted play it in MSG and the BiG East plays there every year so the B1G had to have the tournment the week before if they wanted to play in MSG.

Thought they had to hold in Madison Square Garden and it was not available this week. Big Ten had to move up a week!
