You’d def have a good case for your opinion.

But i don’t think you’d be indisputably “right”, since the Pats not only didn’t win the championship, but also split two coin-flip games with the team that did.

bottom line - it’s a debate. Just like best conference.

there is no dispute that the B10 is an EXCELLENT conference.

but they are perennially overrated here and in the media, and disappoint in crunch time consistently.

both are true IMO.

like I said, an opinion.
I would expect the Big Ten to be overrated here; it's the board of a Big Ten team.

I'm not sure how you would measure if they are overrated by the media.

This is why I am a fan of computer ratings. Whatever you think of them, they are not biased towards any particular conference, big name team, etc. which people so often claim is the source of teams/conference being overrated.

No it’s not absurd at all.

Of course championships alone aren’t dispositive.

But the COMPLETE ABSENCE of any - especially when you get more bids year in and year out - certainly is.
Can we subtract all the UNC "championships" because they cheated and did not require athletes to go to classes. Looking back, over 90% of the championships were UNC and Duke. Get a grip over your Big 10 hatred, it's oozing through.

PM would play 3 to 4 minutes on a big east team. LOL

Way to expose either some serious bias or some serious lack of basketball knowledge
Lol this is one of the classics where the mechanism by which it works is a completely mystery. Like the people who claim that Pike:

(1) cannot recruit
(2) cannot develop players AND
(3) is not a good gameday coach

How did he put together 3 tournament teams?? It's a mystery.

Another classic in the genre is what we see here where people will simultaneously claim that:

(1) our players aren't good enough to start on other P6 teams
(2) our coach is mediocre or worse

How do we win games?? It's a mystery. Bonus points if you throw in:

(3) some bench player(s) WOULD start on other P6 teams but don't play here for ?? reasons

Just because I can objectively acknowledge the league’s undeniable, years-long underperformance does not make me a hater.

If you don’t believe that can be the case, just turn on B10 radio this morning.

They certainly aren’t haters.

But today’s only subject is “Why does the B10 always suck in the NCAA tournament?”

Lots of theories being kicked around.

But no one disputes the premise.

The rank denial from B10 apologists is hilarious.

Even PJ after one of his greatest disappointments (W. Ky. ‘93) had the class and intellectual honesty to call a spade a spade:

“The loss also eliminated the last and best chance the Big East Conference had to make the Final Four. The league, which enjoyed so much early success, has been bashed from coast-to-coast this season with critics saying it was weak.

Following the game, Seton Hall Coach P.J. Carlesimo was asked if his team's loss, and the fact that there won't be a Big East team in the Sweet 16 for the first time in seven years, meant the conference had a down year.

'I guess I would have to admit that it does,' Carlesimo said.”

But I’m sure everyone here would have disagreed lol.

I heard a Roman gladiator from the 3rd Century once also admitted disappointment after defeat. Therefore the 2022 Big Ten sucks.

That isn’t even remotely responsive. And it also (conveniently) misstates what PJ conceded.

And btw, no one is saying the B10 sucks. That’s ludicrous.

But they are consistently overrated, and consistently disappoint in the two major college sports.

Your points are valid. B1G hasn’t won a bball championship in over 20 years. It is a very deep conference, but lacks elite teams.

The discussion this year is odd though. 2 teams in the SS isn’t great, but it’s only a hair below expectations based on seeding. The SEC is a vastly more disappointing conference THIS YEAR, which should also be discussed.

As for college football — completely separate discussion. Not a single major conference has come anywhere close to keeping up with the SEC. B1G is the closest, and only due to Ohio State. But that is a SEC and everyone else discussion. You can’t knock the B1G for that without knocking the ACC, PAC 12, and what’s left of the Big 12.

Lol you are using quotes from a Seton Hall coach in 1993 to argue about the Big Ten in 2022.

Agreed re SEC performance this year, and its dominance in CFB.

The age of a comment/example has no inherent bearing on its truth, or relevance.

But cute sound bite.
What's the example even?

“The loss also eliminated the last and best chance the Big East Conference had to make the Final Four. The league, which enjoyed so much early success, has been bashed from coast-to-coast this season with critics saying it was weak. "

The Big East was considered weak and then continued to be weak in the tournament? And then a coach said that it had a down year in part because no teams were in the sweet 16? And this is related to your claims that the Big Ten, which was considered strong all year and has two teams in the sweet 16 is overrated?
